We were met by the lovely host Pálína. Who showed us around and made us feel welcome and at home. She patiently answered the many questions my eight year old had. He was fascinated with all the rocks and books and was happy to have toys and games to play with. All the hotels and places we stayed at in Iceland were clean but this was the cleanest place we stayed at, with so much attention to details. We used the kitchen to prepare some sandwiches. There was one other party of 3 there and it was totally fine. Didn’t use the hot tub and sauna as we had spent the day earlier in a pool, but other party did and said it was good.

The hotel is very conveniently located for people who are looking to break up the drive from Husavik to Reykjavik (or the other way around). It's a roadside hotel, so don't expect beautiful rooms or much luxury, it just is what it is, and it does a good job at it.
Featuring self-service check-in, North Star Staðarflöt is located half way between Reykjavik and Akureyri. Each simple room offers a TV and a private bathroom with shower.

We were welcomed by Magnus' wife and 2 dogs. Magnus was a lovely host indeed! One of our best stays in Iceland! Magnus even invited us to feed the horses together with him. Also found out that Magnus is also a singer. The mountain views were so breathtaking. Will be back for sure, as we did not get to enjoy the hot tub overfacing the river due to heavy snow the previous night.

WOW, the location is absolutely amazing. Right on the water with amazing views. We did not get to see seals however they frequent this location. The home had a washer and drying rack so we were able to do laundry. If you are staying for a longer time there was a great assortment of cooking spices available. Also coffee and tea. The owners had great communication with us.
