I loved the fact that we had the most amazing view from our balcony. Upon arrival, the staff was incredible and super helpful - we were offered all types of guidance about where to go, when to have breakfast and any additional requests we had. It felt like staying in a unique boutique Inn which had the same amenities as a 5 star luxury hotel. The bathroom was so quaint, and the bed super soft and comfortable. We stayed on the 3rd floor so didn't hear much noise at night, and the staff was super accommodating and we LOVED that everything was in walking distance and close proximity. Definitely a place to stay if visiting Catalina :)

The views and hotel aesthetics were worth the stay. The amenities, specifically the breakfast bar and the rides to/from the hotel, were also wonderful perks. Most of all, we really enjoyed our interactions with the staff. They were all incredibly hospitable and helpful.

Very quaint small town with cute shops, restaurants, great views, and plenty to explore. Can be done on a budget, but the touristy activities will drain your wallet. Quiet town, but noisy and crowded when cruise ships pull up so plan accordingly.

Beautiful place to visit with lots of shops, restaurants, excursions and beaches. Be sure to book excursions in advance of your stay because the cruise ships stop here so most of the excursions get sold out in advance.

I loved the calm relaxing vibe.

I loved the calm relaxing vibe. It felt like a quaint sea side village from the past. Everything was very clean and the walking on the beach frontage or the walk to the casino were very pleasant for us seniors. I also saw young families with small children which appeared to be ideal for that phase of family life because the beach is so close. I hadn't been to Avalon for over 20 years and was extremely happy with the way it has evolved and the pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed it very much, but if I come back with my young adult grand daughters, they would probably want to do more of the activities which are available.

Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving.

Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving. There are more small cars. The businesses seem to be sustainable and pretty much thriving, and all is a positive experience. Catalina is a mere 27-30 miles from where we live in So CA, but it could be HI, South of France or Southern Italy. I think, just go there with the intent of slowing down and enjoying slower time and removing yourself from the balance of hectic life elsewhere. It is a good place to relax.

We visited at start of January (still school holidays) and found reduced restaurant and shop options. Restaurants tended to close early. Easy 1hour comfortable ferry crossing to island with Catalina Express from Long Beach. Saw dolphins en route. Just few minutes walk to main town, shops, restaurants and many hotels from ferry terminal. Plenty of walks, but hilly. Fabulous views & plants/wildlife. Mostly golf carts or bikes and limited cars/local mini bus to get around. Easy access to public restrooms around Avalon. Would visit spring onwards for future visit.

Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days. Lots of activities, food options, and shopping. It's charming and beautiful. The M restaurant is one of my favorites, with good breakfast and lunch options. At dinner, it's a good Italian restaurant.

Convenient location to everything on the main strip. Free coffee, teas, oatmeal, snack bars and a pancake making machine in the lobby each morning. Free use of a microwave for guests and my room had a small refrigerator. Basic accommodations, nothing fancy here but for the price it's a great choice. Historic old building and you can see the blue Hotel Catalina sign when you pull into dock. Short walk through tourist area to hotel. Nice communal balconies to lounge about during the day or morning time with your coffee.

Location is great! No breakfast but the coffee was good. The staff is amazing. Your hotel would be fantastic if you would clean your floors and didn’t have electrical cords all over the place. Your advertising said you remodeled. Not where we were. So adorable of a hotel. We understand small but this was filthy. I’m so short I can’t reach the fridge. What if there was a “Little Person” who was unaware like myself that couldn’t reach the fridge so high.

our stay at Aurora Hotel was excellent. The hospitality was great, staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean and the roof top deck is a great add on. They also helped us check in early. And next day they hold off the baggage for us and check out. And they ordered some deserts also as we were celebrating our Anniversary

The front desk staff, specifically Ayala, were amazing! From the time we arrived until the time we departed, they were extremely accommodating and made great recommendations on places to eat and things to do. The hotel is the most aesthetically pleasing on the island in my opinion. And the bedding was very comfortable.

It was located right in the centre of Avalon and we were upgraded to a bigger room so that me and my friend could have our own beds. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom and it had all the facilities we needed, such as a hairdryer. The staff were really friendly and accommodating and let us check-in earlier too.
