Biwako Hanakaido features outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, 3 dining options and rooms with a balcony and Lake Biwako views. It also has a garden and a sauna, while the lobby offers free WiFi. Lovely food, staff, baths, own private dining room, meticulous service and very clean area. I think it’s almost impossible to top in those regards. The room with its own hotspring was divine. The massage was excellent. Would recommend.

Located in Hikone, within less than 1 km of Hikone Castle and 7.2 km of Maibara Station, Honmachi Juku provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who... The property is a historic building in an interesting residential area located near the Hikone Castle and old town district. Our host was incredibly friendly and welcoming host. It felt very special to stay here in our cozy Japanese style room.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Really loved the dinner and breakfast options. Nightly happy hour with free ice cream and snacks was a nice touch for the guest:) The daily biscuits and top up of hot and cold water in our room was awesome. Everything about the room was great (had the private onsen). Only issue was the shower had some flies so it’s awkward to shower. Staff were extremely courteous. Location was great. Although a bit far from the station to walk the hotel shuttle is able to take you back and forth on request. It’s right opposite the tourism park where you can get great souvenirs. All in all will recommend this place and very satisfied.

Centred around a peaceful Japanese garden, Tobaya Ryokan offers traditional rooms with air conditioning, an LCD TV and shared baths. It is a 20-minute walk from Hikone Castle and provides free... Gorgeous spacious room, very traditional with an onsen. Staff really friendly and dropped us to the station, very accommodating. Garden was lovely and very calming. I'd book a family room if possible as it's much bigger and large sliding doors.

Yumotokan Hotel offers comfortable Japanese-style rooms with views of Lake Biwa. It features indoor and open-air hot-spring baths and free shuttle service from JR Ogoto Onsen Station. The staff was friendly. The service was great. The bath areas are clean. The food is amazing. We enjoyed our stay!

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 2.7 km of Hikone Castle and 6 km of Maibara Station. I liked the quiet location, the view of Lake Biwa, the friendly staff, and the access to both public and private onsen facilities.

Situated in Takashima, 32 km from Sanzen-in Temple and 39 km from Ruriko-in Temple, Ebisusou offers air conditioning. The place is a little bit odd yes, but it’s a wonderful example of a traditional Japanese hospitality (even if the building doesn’t look traditional… but 70s) the hot bath was one of the best I ever had in Japan and the food was incredible. And I paid only 8250 yen for a half course stay (1 person). And the owner did his best to explain everything (with a digital language translator).

Set 46 km from Sanzen-in Temple, Marumo Ryokan offers 1-star accommodation in Takashima and features a garden. A public bath is available for guests. Staff were exceptional and breakfast was authentic Japanese experience.
