It was a traditional Ryokan with a lot of charm and had a delicious restaurant. They had amazing staff and although we do not expect it, it was nice that some knew English. They answered all questions and were so helpful. They were kind to my kids, our 3 day stay was relaxing. Heaters in the room kept us all warm during the mountain cold winter nights. We are seasoned travelers and by far one of my favorite places. We will return again.

Most rooms have tatami (woven-straw) flooring with futon bedding. A beautiful luxury hotel set in forest outside Tsumago, with hotel shuttle bus access. Everything was perfect- from the warm welcome, being conducted to our room, shown the onsen and dining room, where breakfast and dinner were exceptional (in Keisei style and well worth the additional charge). It was a most relaxing stay after our Magome to Tsumago walk- 6 hours in drenching rain- but still very beautiful to be again on this marvellous walk.

I rented all ski material and lift pass through him, and everything was so easy and efficient. The bedroom is spacious, with adorable traditional decoration and great view, and the bed was also super comfortable. The onsen on the hotel was the cherry on top of the cake, after a ski day. There was also a green slope (suitable to all levels) ending at 3 minutes away from the property, which was very convenient.

I opted for the Kaiseki meal with my stay and it was largely very good. The room was comfortable and clean, and the location was very central to the station and bus stops to attractions like the Monkey Park. Staff were helpful and attentive, and the outdoor hot spring bath was beautiful and well maintained. It was on the pricier side but the value was also high.

There is a large room downstairs with kitchen, dining table, sofa, TV etc. Shower and toilet are also downstairs. Upstairs is a large tatami mat area with up to 6 futons. Warm, clean and comfortable.
A really nice ryokan in Shibu onsen center! The staff was really nice and they speak english! It is on the main road were the 9 onsens are. There is also a bar/restaurant in the ryokan, we had dinner there !
The room was the traditional style Ryokan, large space with comfortable futons and seating area. A heater was provided. The hotel had a private onsen (but it was Very hot). The late check-in was useful and the staff were friendly.
Wonderful Ryokan to stay in. The staff are so welcoming and accommodating. The onsen was awesome. The food was delicious and a great taste of traditional Japanese food and food famous in the local Nagano prefecture. The rooms were spacious and they make up the futon for you. The shuttle bus to the Monkey park was so helpful.
The staff, the food, the facilities, the location, everything. The extra plus points: staff can understand english. the chef is great, the course meal is a must. It has indoor n outdoor onsen. The ryokan is shining brightly in the area that giving us the feeling of a safe place, especially after a stroll in a quiet n cold night. The family members are having fun strolling in yukata. Amazing experience.
We stayed in traditional Japanese room with shared bathroom. We slept on futon on Tatami mats. Best sleep ever even for my older parents who were concerned with potential back issues without a bed. Hotel is deeper into the valley so you can hear sounds of the running river. It’s so serene. The onsen was perfect after long days on our feet. The dinner and breakfast were both incredible. The staff were so sweet. We appreciated the shuttle from the station to the hotel. Would love to stay again.
The staff were lovely and always so helpful. The ryokan itself was beautiful and cosy and the futons were very comfortable. The food was also excellent. The staff shuttle you to onsens, the monkey park and to/from the train, just amazing. We really enjoyed our stay here and would easily come back again!
Gorgeous traditional Japanese room with an amazing view of the mountains. Comfy futon, nice onsen and friendly staff, and yukata provided to wear. Very close to yudanaka station, bus stop for the onsen monkeys, and great restaurants.
