The staff were incredible, very attentive to every request- including building an entire vegetarian menu (!!!) with local ingredients for my wife (we did notify beforehand). The food overall in the dinners was outstanding, we stayed for two nights and had two completely different dishes. The private onsen was amazing, just what you need after a long day out.

Kurokawa Onsen, Minamioguni
Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan features 5 hot-spring baths, including a 30-metre long cave bath. Located in the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring area, it offers Japanese accommodations and free WiFi at the lobby. Free shuttle is available to/from Ogunimachi Yu Station and bus stop Kurokawa. We spent 3 nights at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihonbashi Kayabacho hotel after arriving in Japan (There is another Fresa Inn in the area, so make sure this is where you have your reservation). It is a relatively modern, functional hotel sometimes referred to as a business hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very small as is typical in Tokyo but very clean and functional. The hotel is convenient to Tokyo station (20 minutes walking as a reference). After arriving on the Narita Express or by others means to Tokyo station, follow signs to the Tozai line (sky blue) subway. The easiest way to know which direction to go is to look at the numbers representing the stops. The Tokyo station stop at Otemachi is T-9 and you want to go to T-7 Kayabacho. Leave the Kayabacho subway station via Exit 7 and the hotel is just around the corner. From Kayabaco or the nearby Nihonbashi station, you can get all around Tokyo on the highly efficient subway system. Use a Suica, Welcome Suica or Pasmo card to enter and exit subways and avoid the hassle of figuring out which ticket to buy or how much they coat. Just tap and go. Enjoy. Kokura,Onsen EXPERIENCE JAPAN LIKE THE JAPANESE We decided to spend a couple of days in central Kyushu to enjoy a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Boy, was that a great call! It features a total of 5 unique onsens, including one carved into a cave. The ambiance is terrific and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Oku no yu was great! The staff picked us up from the bus station and dropped us off. The facilities had a public and many private onsens to try. The staff helped us set up our futons and there were yukatas for us in the room. We had breakfast there and it was very yummy. Overall, great experience and would recommend!
I was guest of this Ryokan in early December and it was like living in a dream. The town is enchanting, the Ryokan is absolutely splendid and well kept, the breakfast and the dinner were an amazing experience and the personnel was kind and professional (especialy Quynh who was superkind and made my experience even more memorable). My room was wonderful, the onsen very beatiful
What a glorious find! Had an amazing stay at the ryokan. Loved the service, and the whole place. Dinner and breakfast is part of the stay. Onsen hopping in the ryokan itself is good enough as there was a few to try out. There was also a cafe and a hidden bar. And lots of spots for photo taking. Lovely place.
Comfortable pillows & tatami mats. Excellent staff who make sure your needs are attended to. Scenery around the ryokan is beautiful.
Great area with several onsens to offer. I enjoyed a one night stay at the ryokan and experienced great food and immaculate service. One of my favourites was the outdoor onsen facing the waterfall, and also the Japanese Garden.
We had a wonderful time in this friendly ryokan. The facilities and rooms were all clean and well looked after. We particularly enjoyed the private onsens and the sumptuous dinner and breakfast. We hope to visit again!
Amazing ryokan, top-notch service, English speaking staff Futon beds on Tatami was quite comfortable Dinner and breakfast was very tasty In the middle of Kurokawa onsen with everything in walking distance 7 Onsens, switching daily from male to female Tattoo was no problem, not even mentioned
Definitely a wonderful experience! The staffs were all kind and helpful, the decoration of the ryokan was traditional and stunning, and most important of all, I really enjoyed the different kinds of Onsens (both public and private) they offered.
Wonderful room and extremely comfortable futons. The dinner and breakfast was delicious with variety of flavours, textures and ingredients. Personal favourite was the steamed egg. Onsen itself was large and peaceful away from the main road with only noise of nature. Staff knew both English and Chinese, and was more than helpful offering free shuttle to the bus stop.
