It was a beautiful stay and our first experience at a ryokan. We were made to feel very special from the moment we arrived, until the time we checked out. The meals were lovely. Lots of interesting things to try for both dinner and breakfast and dressed in the provided yukatas. We loooooved our private onsen in our room and also tried two of the three private onsens on site which can be used by any guest pending availability. Beautiful views! The town is also lovely but be prepared for the sulfur smell from the hot springs!
Great highrise riverside ryokan furnished with good taste of traditional interior. Much better than many ryokans of this type which use cheaper artificial materials. The private onsen was fabulous and met our expectation.
Amazing location! Right next to the major temples. The flat was spacious, with a lovely tatami room. The futons were lovely and very comfortable, and the kitchen was very well equipped. Thank you!
Kind and attentive host, tasteful furnishing, everywhere seems the ownership spirit of the 5 generations (as we learned). English fluently spoken. The famous Kusatsu hot water in the house onsen. 1st class futon beds. Could not choose any better.
The rooms is beautiful. The private onsen is perfect for shy people or people with tattoo. It doesn't have the sulfur smell. Yukata they provide are pretty too. Breakfast is awesome, they serve seasonal fruits, with bread and coffee/tea/juice. The bread is one of the best I ever had while in Japan. Totally worth it. Also considering everything else do not open until much later. It is a very convenient option. Their staff are all super friendly and nice. I had a very pleasant stay because of them.
My partner and I were the only Westerners that we could see so did not have much interaction with others. Got a few looks. Yukatas are offered in the rooms should you want to use. We Loved the private onsen on the top floor. Was a good view over the river. Buffet was good, you get an hour time limit to have your breakfast/dinner. however the Buffet did not have any English translations for the food on offer which meant we were scanning the cards and holding up the buffet line 😂 was quiet and very close to Kinugawa Onsen Stn.
We chose the annex room which was amazing right next to a waterfall. You sleep on futons on the floor and with the waterfall in the background I slept like a log. The authentic Japanese banquet was delicious and staff were all super friendly. the hot springs pools were beyond what I expected and at night it was like a fairyland. There is a shared toilet done the hall which was clean. Would highly recommend this experience.
In a quiet residential street but a very close walk to transport, supermarket, shops and places to eat. The home itself is spacious and has every comfort you may need. A very well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounges, desks and dining areas. The cutout is very stylish and traditional. I loved the traditional bedroom with tatami matting, futon beds, sliding door and other lovely traditional features.
We loved this place! Large tatami room with futon beds (note that you will have to make your bed which is common in Japan). The common areas are wonderful with many places to seat and relax, or work (desks and tables). The shared kitchen was large and super clean with everything you need to cook. The onsite Onsen was fantastic! One indoor Onsen and one outside, which was amazing! Staff was nice and friendly.
The location was lovely, the grounds were beautiful, and the staff was bilingual and very friendly, and the private onsen was extremely nice. The futons were quite comfortable and I loved having baskets and yukatas available to take around town.
