I needed a break in a quiet, secluded place, and Afya Village was exactly what I was looking for. It's in the northernmost part of Michamvi, in a cove of its own that almost disappears during high tide, and it is far enough from the noise of the main Michamvi beach or other locations in Zanzibar. The room was well-equipped and spacious enough, and the bed was comfy. The breakfast is superb, and all the food I had was delicious, well prepared. Last but not least, all staff was nice and helpful, easy-going.

A beautiful oasis in Michamvi. The bungalows, the pool and the beach chairs are a dream. Quiet but still very close to the beach front. Kae Funk Beach Bar and Mangroves Sunset Beach Bar are within short beach walk distance. Lovely and charmingly furnished and operated by a very friendly and welcoming host. Nice and helpful staff. Highly recommended place to stay in Michamvi.

The setting was lovely in the lodge - overlooking trees around and away from other properties. The restaurant setting was lovely - very restful and hippy sand floor , shells, thatched roof. The best bit was the small pool which was open 24 hours and was the perfect way to cool down and relax after a hot day - it was lit and felt lush. There were fruit bats flying around which was a bonus. The gardens were very nice. we hired bikes from the property which was 3 US dollars and was a nice half day out. the staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a great 3 days with them. The owner gave us a trip out to see the two halves of the town which was kind, so we could get our bearings at the start. It was 900m to the beach at the east and about 1.5 km to the west beach. Both involved walking through the local town, which felt safe. you could get a taxi if you needed to. The walk was along a main road but traffic was very light so easy to do. The rooms were nice, with fans and comfy beds. The food was delicious and you could eat local food.

We loved the quiet location and the hippie vibe of the place. Everything is very basic but the whole place is clean and comfy. We really appreciated the bed on the balcony. We used to watch the sunrise and monkeys in the palm trees from there each morning. The food in the restaurant is very good and reasonably priced and we actually noticed many tourists from outside the resort coming for dinner. The staff is very attentive. One night we asked for octopus and they prepared it for us although it wasn´t on the menu that day! The happy hour with a wide selection of drinks is also good. We really enjoyed our stay in this resort.
