El Descanso is trully a hidden gem in Mindo. It is composed of two major wooden buildings around a secured yard. We especially loved the architecture of the buildings as it is authentic and lovely to watch. Its pergola where we ate really tasty breakfast is also the best spot to watch birds, hummingbirds and small forest animals. We did not expect that and it was the best spot in Mindo! The accomodation is very well maintained and the owner Rodney was always there willing to help us. We really spent lovely 4 days there and would definitelly like to come back again anytime in the future.

The pool area is very nice, the food is delicious, it‘s even in walking distance to the city center and the cable car to do some great hikes. Marco will also support you planning your days.

The suites are surrounded of nature ans we were delighted of the colibris, toucans and colorful butterflies flying around us... the pool and the jacuzzi are very clean and pleasant.... the breakfast was very nice as well

The food was delicious, the fairly priced dinner as well as the included breakfast. A small frog pond makes for a fun atmosphere, and there's a nightly presentation at 6:30pm about the frogs and their habitat. A wonderful getaway about 2 hours outside of the capital Quito.
