Macaw lodge is such a magical place. Beautiful setting, horiculturally interesting, and part of an important wildlife corridor. We saw so many different birds and animals. The highlight was our birding tour with Hugo, who is very knowledgeable about the area. We also loved sitting in the main lodge watching birds gather around the small pond. The food was fabulous, much of it locally sourced. We especially loved the fresh squeezed juice at every meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is a magic place to discover the power of nature in Costa Rica. It worth to make the journey to visit them! There is a restaurant that serve their product and the breakfast is super! It is super organised considering they are in the middle of Carara forest 🥰. Wi-Fi is limited to the pubblic area (restaurant and reception) but this is a plus for us. Well done Macaw lodge staff!!!!

Wonderful, relaxing views from the main lodge across the lagoons and gardens that blend seamlessly into the forest. The privacy of our bungalow on stilts, looking directly into the forest, with macaws and toucans in the trees opposite our balconies. The rocking chairs on our balcony! Going to sleep to the sound of cicadas and frogs. The friendly and helpful staff

Best place stayed in Costa Rica. An eco lodge in a properly maintained agriforest. The gardens were stunning. The guides were extremely well informed and lovely. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful. The road was blocked on the way up but they sent a 4x4 to dig us out. The rooms are floor to ceiling screened ( ie no glass) so you felt at one with nature. The lodge is nowhere near other settlements so no dogs barking all night.... Just the sound of frogs!! We could not recommend this place more.

Macaw lodge is like an immense botanical garden, with plenty of different trees and plantations, cascades, etc...Definitely worth it, specially if your looking something quiet before or after heading to busier places. The hotel workers were very friendly.
