It’s just a short walk from Yudanaka Station. If I come back to ski or see the snow monkeys, I would definitely stay here again.

The garden overlooking the onsen looked magical in the snow. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. They provided transport to and from Yudanaka station and Snow monkey park. Even did a small detour to a scenic spot for some photos. Totally enjoyed the highly traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. The late night walk in the town after the onsen bath was magical.

The common room was amazingly rustic with an firewood-based heating system. It was nice to lounge about and chat with other travelers. The quilt and blanket in the bedroom was sufficient to keep me warm on a sub-zero night. The breakfast of udon with pork, scallops, mushrooms, onions, an egg and a vegetable fritter, accompanied by a side of pumpkin, tea, and slices of pear was exquisite and very filling.
