Holyrood Park

The vast, green expanse of Holyrood Park is best experienced from Arthur'€™s Seat – the park's rugged mountain and a long-dormant volcano. When you head up the winding paths, you'€™ll see the delicate remains of the 15th-century St. Anthony'€™s Chapel, as well as the ruins of four 2,000-year-old hill forts.

We loved it here but we were really just walking through on our way to the Castle. Next time we go I would like to spend more time here. So lovely. Lots of benches to sit at. Beautiful views. Coffee shop for refreshments. Long queues though.

A must to visit if you have the time.

A must to visit if you have the time. A large area to chill out in and explore. When we lived in Edinburgh, we used to go there a lot with our young family. The energetic can go to the top of 'Arthur's Seat' for panoramic city views, or just go feed the ducks at the other end of the park.

When visiting the Park it is worth following the path around Holyrood, albeit it is 3.3 miles long, and one side is far steeper, but shorter than the other side, but the views of the City, from the top and side, and on clear days, Portobello harbour, the Firth of Forth, as well as the Rail and Road Bridges at Queensferry, is well worth the effort, and of course exercise!

Amazing to have such a wild-feeling place just a few minutes' walk from the city centre. No facilities in the park that I noticed (not a criticism but something to be aware of). Walking up to the top of Arthur's Seat is a must! Sensible shoes needed, but doable by anyone who's vaguely fit and able. Great views from the top!

We stayed the night before a running event in Holyrood Park - the Aparthotel was so well located with optional parking facilities (which is so helpful in the city centre!) A spacious and clean apartment which suited our needs perfectly

Very comfortable room looking out onto a quiet back garden, with a view of Arthur's Seat not far off. Clear instructions and easy access to the lockbox to get our key on the way in, and super fast check out (drop a key in a slot and go). Nice neighborhood-- busy street but mostly residential or guest houses like this one, with some lovely restaurants just up the road and easy enough access walking into the city, or to the Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat. We'd definitely stay at this guest house again.

It's a great value but no frills. No hairdryer, no housekeeping. But the location near is Holyrood Park is excellent. Campus is safe and pretty. Breakfast is incredible. You can get a great dinner there also for 20 Pounds. It is on a direct bus line service to city center.

Nice location - handy for centre of the city, only 15 min walk, and also about 10 min from Holyrood park (wonderful sunsets!). Great that there was a full kitchen, with all needed utensils, cookware, plates etc. and microwave, oven fridge. The staff were very enthusiastic and helpful - went out of their way to sort out any issues.

We had the best nights sleep we've ever had in this hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable, the room is spacious with a large bathroom and large shower. The breakfast was exceptional, with freshly cooked scottish breakfast and buffet. The staff were very friendly. There is onsite car parking which is free. The location is great for Holyrood park and Arthurs seat, literally minutes away. The castle is approx 30 minutes walk away.

The breakfast was great and I liked the location as far as how close it was to Holyrood Park given that was something I knew I wanted to do and I had limited time.

Breakfast is wonderful! My gluten allergy was considered and taken care of. The hotel is very near the entrance to Holyrood park! Don't miss it! It is about a 15-20 minute walk to "old Edinburgh". Make sure to take a different route each time so you can see other streets.

The location was superb -- right by Holyrood Park and Arthur's seat. It's a university dorm, so expect simplicity. It was clean and the included breakfast was substantial. One of our party had to take an online exam the day we were checking out and the staff came up with a creative solution for her.
