The Central Markt Square

Bruges is like a fairytale, and the Markt is no exception. The true heart of the city, this romantic square is surrounded by ornate architecture, impressive statues and cobblestone streets. The colourful buildings house restaurants and bars, perfect for a cool beer as you watch the world go by. Once the sun sets, walk amidst the twinkling street lights, drinking in the beauty.

I loved our trip to Bruge and would thoroughly recommend a visit or two but you shouldn't go there for the Christmas Market because you'll be disappointed. We have been to many Christmas Markets and whilst the atmosphere is lovely the shopping is pretty poor.

We always enjoy being in the center of the action and Market Square was the place to be. There was even a bike race through town the day we were there. The architecture of the buildings is remarkable.

Market square is breathtaking, I actually had a tingly feeling in my body when I saw it for the first time. The beer room at the historique museum has a nice patio overlooking the square, it is a great place to stop for a pint or they offer a tasting flight with 3 small beers and chocolates to go with it. If you plan to go up the tower the wait is aprox. 45 min so get in line before 4 pm so you dont risk missing the cut off time, It is a must see when in Bruges. My favourite food in Bruges was the warm bagel breakfast sandwiches at The Gingerbread Cafe, I went every morning, it is a small cafe and it is popular so reserve a table or expect to wait. Be patient, the service is great but it is busy so you may have to wait a bit for your order, trust me it is ,ore than worth the wait.

Well located in quiet area set overlooking a canal with about a 10 minute picturesque walk to the market square. Lovely spacious room and reception staff always helpful. A bright breakfast room in the hotel looked inviting although we didn’t use it.

The location is steps away from the main market square, yet it’s on a side street. My room had a terrace. It was too cold to sit out, but it increased the sense of space and light in the room. This is one of those hotels carved out of some ancient houses, so it’s not an IKEA modern air BnB. Cozy bed, lots of hot water and workable kitchen.

Lovely property. Room was simple but nicely decorated and comfortable with a good spacious bathroom. Staff were super friendly and helpful and I was able to leave my luggage after checkout and before my late flight which is a necessity for me. Great spot, nice and quiet, right on the canal but only a couple of minutes away from some lovely restaurants and maybe a 7 minute walk to the main market square - but you can’t hear a thing in the hotel. Perfect.

We definitely liked the location (on a quite street but just a minute away from the main market square) and the hotel itself is very beautiful and renovated, although located in a historic building. Breakfast was lovely, included everything one may need: eggs, fruits, cheeses, pastry etc. I would specifically thank the personnel. All of the them were very polite and helpful. We've left a personal item in the room and the personnel helped us with delivery in a very short time. Thank you and good luck!

A fabulous hotel situated in a perfect location on the canal of Bruges, and a very short walk to the market square. The hotel is very tastefully decorated, and is charming in character. The room we stayed in exceeded our expectation and was wonderful. Front of house staff are incredibly friendly, professional and knowledgeable of local area. Nothing was too much trouble - a big thank you to each and every one of them. Thank you - we will return.

our room was at main building with high celling, very well decorated and comfortable, with big size bath room. Breakfast has variety of choices. Location is good and centrally located next to market square, and in walking distance to all sightseeing point. January in Bruges can be cold, therefore good to relax at Hotel SPA center, and warm up.
