Staff were so kind. Although we arrived the hotel early in the morning, the staff allowed us to do early check-in. After using a night bus, this is very thankful. The hotel was traditional structure in Safranbolu and very clean and cozy.
Safranbolu
This design hotel, built in an old historical Ottoman mansion, has all features of a traditional Turkish House. Satellite TV and a DVD player are available in the communal lounge area.
Mehves Hanim Konagi is centrally located at the historical part of Safranbolu. It is less than 2 km from Ata Park.
This mansion is the perfect place to spend a few nights in, especially if you want to immerse yourself in one of the things that Safranbolu is known for - Ottoman era houses and architecture.
It has been loving restored by the owners. Beautiful textiles, historical decorative pieces, weathered antique furniture with stories - no detail is out of place. If you love history, it will feel like you have been transported to the past. Every corner is like a photograph.
But a home is truly alive because of the people in it. And the host, Sevgi Hanim, is the heart of this mansion. She is such a lovely person, our stay was so much more special because of her. Also, the delicious Turkish breakfast that she prepared every morning kept me full until dinner. We miss her warm smile already!
Some other things to note: the rooms are very clean and well maintained. Depending on which room you get, you might have to share a bathroom. But it is not a problem at all.
The mansion is located on a quiet street, yet is is within walking distance to a lot of the major sites in Safranbolu. Markets, eateries, they are within easy reach.
We were lucky to spend 3 nights here in October, soaking in the historical atmosphere of Safranbolu. If I ever get a chance to visit this beautiful town again, I know where to stay.

The house, the furniture, the styling and the whole vibe of the place was relaxing and energizing as well, perfect for a forest nature stay. Technology such as underfloor heating or rustic elements such as a warm fireplace makes the house very cozy to stay in. The gated fence around the 4 houses made me feel secure as my 2 year old toddler played in the playground on his own (he loved it). The owners of the homes are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. Highly recommended stay.
Stayed for one night before crossing the border to Georgia. Location is good, right next to a very good restaurant for dinner and also the coach station to get to Georgia or other places in Turkey. Breakfast was very good with lots of options. Room was very clean, comfortable beds, very good shower and lovely view over the black sea. Good wifi.
Location was good, but staff were amazing. Beginning from the check in with Hanife, she was amazing! All the staff was helpful and amazing, we are lucky we stayed at tis hotel!
The owner was just absolutely fantastic. He organised our sight-seeing, cooked us an excellent dinner and made sure we had transport for the next stage of our trip. Basically he saw to all our needs. We could not have asked for more. The hospitality was amazing. We’d highly recommend Hittite Houses.
Nice hotel, great location, spacious room with all the amenities. Had most wonderful view from the window - to the castle and the sea - perfect, what else is to add :) Hotel had underground garage which was a big bonus when traveling by car. We also had decent breakfast. Location is central but really quite, there is a lovely restaurant right by that we enjoyed having late dinner.
Family run, motel-like hotel, convenient for both Hatusas and the modern village( with museum); very welcoming, easy parking, no language difficulties; very good value for money, dinner and breakfast both being more than adequate . I was made to feel very much at home.
The food (we had dinner) was very good and, despite what others have written, seemed good value to me. The location is excellent for Hattusa and also (although we missed it and I'm unsure if it's open) for the museum which includes some of the artefacts from Hattusa and would improve the Hattusa visit if seen first The hot water seemed fine. Ahmed, the owner, has a talent for playing a traditional guitar type thing and is happy to demonstrate
Location in the mountains. Dinner is available at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner were really tasty
Great location near the river We had nice dinner in the hotel restaurant
