I warmly recommend this little island to everyone!
We stayed with the Celso family and had one of the best experiences!
The family is really nice, smily and willing to give you the best accomodation they've could.
We had dinner with them - delicious and big, breakfast - really great and full filling.
But more than that, we experienced a native person life by first hand. Celso asked some of the textile families to come visit in the following morning, so we had 1 to 1 explanation and observed by ourselves how textiles has been produced on the island.
Oh and btw, if you're worry you might not have hot water or at all water - it's a myth.
The place is simple, but also so charming; what made our stay special was spending time with Mario and Julia who were amazing hosts. They took us around the island, cooked dinner, showed us weeving process; Julia also took us to her mom’s house to meet baby lamb.
One of our favorite stays in South America. Mario and his wife Juliana were so kind and accommodating. Juliana picked us up from the boat and Mario showed us around the entire island, informing us on history, culture, and fona and flora of the area. They also showed us local weaving. The room was beautiful and clean and we got to share a delicious dinner with the couple. I absolutely recommend this stay to anyone traveling to Puno area.
Such a beautiful place with great value. The dinner and lunch were absolutely delicious! I miss the quinoa soup and trucha already. Edwin received us with great attention. The island is worth staying, we catched the sunset from our room without leaving our beds! There are ruins, and we were lucky to see a local festival at the plaza. the textile on the island is also amazing.
Host family was very lovely and caring. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and Celso's stories and information about the Taquile island and it's people were very interesting. He managed to tell us all those things even though he speaks only little english and we speaks only little spanish. Big recommendation for this place.
