Lovely upgraded room as it was quiet, the two ladies on duty on the evening I stayed couldn't have been more helpful. Can't comment on food as I didn't eat there but breakfast was excellent.I would definitely go back.

Situated in Bardon Mill, The Bowes Hotel has a restaurant, bar and free WiFi. The rooms have a desk and a TV, and some rooms at the inn have a balcony. Very good and substantial breakfast. In the morning we got a lift up to Hadrian's Wall again, which was extremely helpful for our onward journey. Very friendly people!

Set in Cornhill-on-tweed and with The Maltings Theatre & Cinema reachable within 22 km, The Blue Bell Crookham offers a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar. Our family stay here was absolutely perfect- this was a gem of a find. Our room was spacious and clean, beds were very comfortable and little extras were provided that we didn't expect. We had a little drinks fridge in our room which is always a great idea but rarely provided in many of the bed and breakfast places we have stayed in the past. All the staff here were very welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were happy, comfortable and had everything we needed. The food was excellent with large portions. The location was rural and quiet and quite the tonic after spending a few days in Durham. It was conveniently placed for exploring the North East coast around Bamburgh, the Farne Islands and Berwick, however I would say that a car is necessary. I only wish we had spent a little more time here, but it's definitely on my list to re-visit another time. A huge thank you to all the staff who made our visit so wonderful.

Breakfast was really good. The food in the restaurant was fantastic. Our room was really large, free upgrade to D'Arcy suite, ample room for us and our pet dog. Clean and spacious and everything we needed.

Set in Newbrough and within 42 km of MetroCentre, Red Lion Inn features a bar, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi. Great location, great food, great hosts, friendly locals, a really lovely place full of old world character, would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

Set in Alnwick and with Alnwick Castle reachable within 200 metres, The Dirty Bottles Inn offers a terrace, allergy-free rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar. We had a beautifully decorated room, which was spacious clean and comfortable. Breakfast was generous and delicious. The location in town and right next to the castle was perfect.
