this was an historical in that had well appointed rooms, modern bathroom, very clean, exceptional staff. The food in the pub was delicious. We stayed with friends and the four of us give the restaurant at five out of five. there was a beautiful garden area in the rear with tables a huge pond and many birds it was delightful.

For a place to stay, our room was well designed and comfortable with a comfortable bed and many plugs and storage. The plugs, some with USB, made charging mobiles etc very easy. There was good hanging for clothing and drawers for clothes. The en-suite had a good shower. The food was excellent both for dinner and breakfast and the staff were all friendly. Although we were not local customers in the bar were friendly. There was very good WiFi which is always a benefit. We would stay there again!

lovely old Inn with a stunning garden at the back. Olde Worlde en-suite room with lots of charming character. We enjoyed a Sunday roast and breakfast was exactly what we wanted. we had plenty of tea and coffee with fresh fruit, cereals and of course a full English breakfast. Smarden is quiet and very pretty - we enjoyed our stay very much. Parking is at the rear.
