Really lovely stay last a Friday... All the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.. I was upgraded to a fabulous room on the ground floor as I was not able to use the stairs to the allocated room on the second floor. We went to The Rat Pack dinner event which was well organised, lovely food and great singer too.

This is a traditional, centuries-old coaching inn in a good city centre location, with its own car parking. It has lots of character, including wonky floors, sloping ceilings and creaking stairs. Location is good, close to the abbey and having its own car park is a real good point.

Great location, comfortable property, generous provisions for guests & great coffee. Barry the landlord was very helpful. Easy parking directly opposite & loads of pubs nearby. The nearest pub, White Hart Tap, was busy with very friendly punters, welcoming staff and hearty food. My short stay for a family party nearby was very neighbourly and I know I had a much better local experience than the rest of the clan who stayed at the Premier Inn. Would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was great. Cooked breakfast prepared to order. Freshly baked huge croissants were perfect. Pleasant area to eat in conservatory. Didn’t have dinner there. Room was actually better than expected after reading some negative reviews. Bed was comfy, towels seemed quite new and soft. Shower over bath worked well. There is a trainline to the rear of the property but the sound of the trains did not bother us. Garden is lovely and there are some impressive houseplants.

Breakfast was bountiful. The children enjoyed choosing from the pastries and cereals but what was really great value for money was that they could order a cooked breakfast free (under 11s which suited 2 of my children). Beautifully decorated. Perfectly situated. My husband has Glioblastoma and is struggling with muscle loss so they only disappointment was that there was no lunch or dinner service as it would have been the perfect spot as he can't travel far without getting tired. Fortunately a lovely pub next door!
