The Chequers is a very traditional English pub and provides very spacious and comfortable accommodation. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent.

We used the Moon Inn as a base to visit Chatsworth Christmas Market and we were very pleased with our experience. The room was very comfortable, and we experienced no noise from the outside or bar itself. The rooms are accessed from several outside steps, but these are well lit and there is a handrail where necessary. The staff without exception were really helpful and friendly, in particular the ladies who served us at dinner and breakfast. The meals themselves were freshly cooked and arrived piping hot at the table. The chef is obviously one to keep as we heard no complaints from neighbouring tables about portion size, choice of menu and the actual taste of the meals people had. Breakfast is big, so much so we did not feel the need to eat again until we arrived back home at around six thirty in the evening! My wife and I would not hesitate to return here in the future.

We had an awesome afternoon and evening here. The food was wonderful the staff were so friendly, and it’s a lovely family that run the Inn, they make it a special place to go!

Breakfast was excellent with a large variety of cooked options plus juice, cereal, fruit, toast etc. Staff were friendly and provided maps and guide books for walking in the area. Barrel Inn is privately owned and they greeted us at breakfast and made us feel at home. Great location near to historic village of Eyam in the Peak District, walking trails near the Inn. Great stay.
