The Courtyard is located in a modern building conveniently situated on the square in the dead centre of town. Guests can securely park their cars and spend the rest of the day walking around our beautiful village, browsing through the shops and art galleries, and tasting all the treats the numerous restaurants have to offer. Or bring reading material; order coffee and cake from our bakery below you, and relax in your room, enjoying the stunning views out towards Golden Gate and Lesotho. Rooms are located on the first floor of the building and face away from the buzz of the square; Beautifully furnished they provide guests with a comfortable haven right in the middle of the village. Although the double rooms do not offer self catering facilities, the bakery on the gorund floor bakes a range of fresh produce daily . So come down and pick up a fresh croissant or danish, and coffee or cappuchino, and enjoy from your balcony, or pcinic tables at the front of the bakery. Alternatively try any one of the restaurants located close by for a delicious cooked breakfast.

The owners Martin & Jane are hands on, and are always on site ..... Both working in the kitchen preparing the delicious and scrumptious offerings in the bakery, and looking after guests in the guest house. Our Housekeeper will ensure that your room is comfortable, spotlessly clean and sanitised for your stay..

Clarens is not called the "Jewel of the Free State" for nothing. It is situated in a beautiful valley 20 km outside of the Golden Gate National Park. Long known as an artists village, the town offers an abundance of art galleries and trinket shops where you can shop to your hearts content. Short distances outside of Clarens are places that offer quad biking in breathtaking surroundings, 4x4 trails, horse riding, abseiling and hiking. Bring your bicycle and follow any one of a number of top class mountain bike trails. Use Clarens as a base, and venture into the Kingdom of Lesotho to go skiing at Afriski, or visit the Lesotho Highlands water project's Khatse Dam. See Clarens from a different perspective and arrange a Hot Air Ballooning trip! For those who don't want to self drive to Lesotho or other locations, tour services are available in the village. Clarens is a village where you can sit on a balcony, relax and restore your balance, or go out and throw yourself at every activity we offer.
