ホテル紀伊田辺, hotel in Tanabe

ホテル紀伊田辺 has accommodations in Tanabe. This 3-star hotel offers luggage storage space. The property is non-smoking throughout and is located a 17-minute walk from Tanabe Ogigahama Beach.

This hotel is in new condition, is spotlessly clean, and the staff extremely welcoming and helpful. The full-bedroom was small, the queen room larger, but both were very comfortable. Breakfast was good but quite limited and one morning they ran out of much of the food by 8:15. Location is great, a 5 minute walk to the station and close to good restaurants and Izekayas (small restaurants with beer and sake). Shingu restaurant a 10 minute walk away was excellent and inexpensive.

Ichie, hotel in Tanabe

Ichie is a accommodations and cafe that was renovated from a 70-year old traditional Japanese home. The property is a 5-minute walk from Tanabeogigahama Beach Resort.

The facility was an older establishment, but it was very presentable and comfortable. Mayumi, the host, was very accommodating when I arrived earlier than expected. I felt very safe and will definitely come back!

Private house Kumanoyasai BASE, hotel in Tanabe

Private house Kumanoyasai BASE is located in Tanabe, just a 5-minute walk from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art and 18 miles from Kamitonda Concert Hall.

The private house was right on the Kumano. We stayed only one night but wish it was longer. Shino is the perfect host! After eating breakfast at her cafe, we went to board the bus across the street. I completely forgot my bag. Shino made sure I got it back! She had the bus company flag down the bus we were on and delivered it to me. Her homemade meals and warm accommodations will not be forgotten any time soon!!

Staff was able to provide information clearly and was fluent in English. He was also very kind to pick us up from the train station for free. He also provided suggestions for sight seeing and restaurants. Highly recommend the accommodation due to the service and facilities.

Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. I think we could have stayed a whole week if we weren't going on our trek.

Having visited Japan so many times, this trip was probably the best of all. I followed the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage and experienced both the people, the culture and the religion of ancient Japan. I spent in total about 4 days walking and all of the accommodations (family run b&b and a hot spring hotel) was all very clean, with tasty food and friendly people. I'd love to go back again and experience the other less famous trails of the same region.

A great little town, and ideal jumping-off point for the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage. The pub quarter was a fun place to get a drink and dinner: great Tako Yaki. Both the Tanabe Tourist Information Centre staff and the Kumano Kodo Travel staff were impeccably professional and helpful in making arrangements for the pilgrimage walk. Cannot rate their quality of service highly enough.

We stayed at this hotel before our Kumano Kodo trekking on the next day. The hotel is very closed to the Kii Tanabe Station and bus station, so it is very convenient to catch the early bus to Takajiri-oji to start the trekking. The room is clean and has laundry service (fees applied). We stayed at one of the rooms in early Summer which is the mosquito's season. We were bombarded by a few mosquitoes at night. Hence do remember to bring along the mosquito repellents when you travel to Kii-Tanabe during late Spring /early Summertime.

These two great hosts built the coziest, most beautiful and comfortable cute place which feels like home in heaven thanks to their great hospitality also. It’s super clean and everything for your comfort is well taken care of with an excellent eye for the details. Add to this the most delicious and special fresh cooked French/Japanese cuisine delicacies and you would not want to leave just like we didn’t. It’s also so conveniently located right in the middle of the Kumano Kodo trail! Definitely want to go back!:)

Read reviews carefully. Beware. Friendly update 2 weeks later - this place is still under investigation from booking. They hid the review on google obviously, and have apparently been doing this for years - according to other local lodging facilities. I of course have the screenshot, and still have access to the review. I've been on booking and staying all around Japan for years, this has never happened to me. And again, didn't argue or anything with the guy.

I liked everything about the hosts and their home and the home's location! It was a wonderful time! But what takes them above is their hospitality and the offering of a shuttle service from Kii-Tanabe and to Takajiri-oji. I loved how helpful the host was with ALL my small and big questions and did everything to make my stay a success! He was kind, and I will remember his hospitality!

The hotel include well prepared breakfast and dinner, which every dish is impressive. If you are tired by the hiking, you can enjoy the onsen in the hotel also♨️

Location is good - a few minutes walk from Tanabe station. We arrived late and left early so didn't have much time there but it was fine, a standard small ryokan. The proprietor communicated well with us and was helpful when we arrived and then left us on our own.
