Chambres d'hôtes des Forêts is located on the edge of a golf course in a delightful rural location with views of the surrounding countryside. The house, which is a traditional stone farmhouse, has been tastfully renovated retaining many original features such as exposed beams and stonework. The garden is a feature of the property with many different sitting areas and a pond plus a sheltered terrace. We have a cat, 2 dogs, chickens and horses in the field surrounding the house. There are miles of beautiful quiet tracks for walkers and cyclists (Scandiberique nearby). We are happy to provide maps and picnics if required. For golfers, the course which is open every day, is just 5 minutes walk from the house. Horse riders are welcome to come and stay with their horses. Plus we offer charging facilities for electric cars.

I have lived in France since 2009 and speak fluent French. I started visiting this area regularly over 30 years ago with my children so know it well. I like to teach French to local expats and have also been teaching English to equestrian students. I am a keen horse rider who takes part in local competitions and organised pleasure rides. I look forward to meeting and sharing this lovely house with new guests as well as previous clients from my time as proprietor of Chambres d'Hôtes des Parcs at Miallet.

This beautiful corner of the Charente is right on the border of the Haute Vienne and the Dordogne with all it has to offer. The Natural Park of the Perigord Limousin and the route of Richard the Lionheart is also closeby. The sparkling river Tardoire runs a few kilometers from the house through numerous wooded valleys, intersperced with fields of cows and far reaching views from the tops of the hills. You will also find many picturesque villages and hamlets, some just a few minutes walk from the house. The lakes of the Haute Charente which offer good walking, bird watching, nautical activities, and beaches are approximately 20 minutes drive from here. The restaurant Brize Bois at Rouzede is 10 minutes from the house by car, as is the Lanterne at Roussines. Montbron, a pleasant market town, is 10 minutes from here and also has several restaurants. The cartoon museum is not far away in the lovely old town of Angoulême where you can also find some interesting shops or take a boat ride on the river. For the those of you who love old cars (especially racing cars), the Tour des Remparts which takes place here every September is a spectacle definitely worth seeing.
