The owners Daniela & Tony went above and beyond for their guests to make sure we were all comfortable and had everything for our stay. Beds in the dorm were comfortable, bathroom was clean, everyone had a fan, drinking water provided, hammocks, a delicious affordable breakfast was also an option which I highly recommend! The location was close to the ferry port, it was very easy to explore other parts of the island by renting a scooter.

La Urraca Loca Hostel has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Balgue. Featuring barbecue facilities, the property is located within 12 km of Maderas Volcano. like a small little nature sanctuary, lots of plants, buildings are nestled into the trees.

The location on the beach is magical, you can wake up to the lake & watch amazing sunsets. The staff are wonderful too they cooked up a meal for me one night even though the kitchen was closed & upgraded me to a better room because they had some spare & they speak English. Perfect if you want to escape the busy inland places like Granada, San Juan Del Sur or Rivas for a few days.

Set in Santa Cruz, Raindance features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, bar, and free WiFi throughout the property. The property is non-smoking and is situated 1.7 km from Santo Domingo Beach. Out of all my years travelling, I’ve never found somewhere that has ticked literally every box. It’s so clear that the owners have spent many years backpacking as everything has been thought of from a back packers perspective. As well as amenities, the vibe is so goooood. The chilled nights are chilled and the party nights are banging. The music and food, the staff, the location, everything! Thank you soooo much to Charlie, Styx and the gang for looking after me and attending to my every need. I’m so gutted I had to eventually leave. Love and appreciate you guys! May we meet again! I reccomend rain dance to everyone.

Situated in Moyogalpa, Cocos Hostel has a garden. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. Everything was perfect! The place was super clean, the breakfast delicious and the staff it’s awesome, very friendly and kind, they really make you feel home. I booked for one night at first but I ended up spending there three more nights! If I’ll be in Ometepe again I will definitely stay there!

This is a small family based hostel on only 2,5 KM from Altagracia. Surrounded by nature and close to Ogo de Agua, Altagracia, Vulcano Conseption and many more. Guest can enjoy the on-site bar. very cosy, had everything you needed good location and Liz is very very friendly and helpful!

El Pital, Chocolate Paradise has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Balgue. The property was so nice. It was in nature with a jungle vibe but also very clean. The food was amazing! I stayed in the 10 bed dorm and it was very big and comfortable. The vibe was relaxed as well. There isn’t a common area but rather everyone hangs out by the water in the restaurant but as a solo traveller I met some great people just in the dorm. The staff are also very friendly. If you’re a party person, this isn’t the hostel for you. If you want to relax in a nice place surrounded by nature, this is the place for you.
