For those who enjoy being isolated from civilisation but still within reach of it, this place is just 15min by car from Arusha city, but has all the perks of being in nature. Nice staff, Regina was super lovely to us and helped us a lot. The kitchen staff made excellent food. The best part is the story behind the lodge, started as an airbnb model and then expanded into an eco-friendly self-sustaining lodge, which I think is extremely inspirational. Lots of activities too which we only did very few of, had we known earlier we would have stayed one day more to do them!

Osotwa Maasai hostel exceeded my expectations in every way. Firstly, the hosts were so lovely and welcoming, they really made me feel at home. The property was safe and secure, with a locked gate and separate keys for each room where the guests can stay. Inside the house was sparkling clean and decorated with beautiful local art and Maasai ornaments. There was good WiFi and clean water, with a heater if you wanted to take a shower. My room was amazing value for money, with a spacious bed, mosquito net, wardrobe and table for the same price as a shared dorm elsewhere. Breakfast was provided in the morning and I was catered for even with dietary requirements! There is no guest kitchen, but the hosts are happy to assist you with any cooking or boiling water. I would love to see more guests staying at this hostel to support a lovely local family and enjoy a great value experience in Arusha.

Enjoyed my stay at this hostel. Joshua and the whole staff are great and very helpful, the hostel is spacious and clean. There is a nice outdoor area and even a fire pit. I had a good time playing with the dogs as well. It's located a few minutes drive from the town center. Will stay here again when I get back to Arusha!

The owner Hillary is exceptionally nice and helped me with literally everything like booking rides or finding places to visit. He even brought me to the bus station so that I wouldn't get in any trouble or take a wrong bus even though he had a lot to do. Even if you don't have any plan to do in Arusha yet, he will help you decide what to do with his knowledge and experience of safari and Arusha as an ex-tour guide but never try to convince you to take his tour unlike many tour guides try. The chef Eva is also very kind and cooks good foods. Beds, bathrooms and common room are comfortable and kept clean. If you are looking for a peace of mind, I'd recommend this hostel as their hospitality is truly exceptional.

I found the hostel via the price / map function since it was never actively using booking to get customers. This is really sad, because the house is worth to be found and I hope I can help others to find it. Relevant for me is the location (bus is close, in the green, no noise, here I have an amazing mountain-view), a breakfast that I can discuss how I want to have it and when I have a problem than I know they will help me. Since the building is as good as new (build not yet two years ago) and the wonderful woodwork is above from what I usually get in a hostel, the location is special and the people are friendly and help me with there connections whatever I desire I can live with a perfect rating what I normally never give .....

I previously had a great time meeting new people here, sadly this time there were mostly couples minding their own business. It's not entirely safe to walk around Arusha after dark, so that can be a problem. Green Garden is in a fantastically central location, but still on a quiet, green side street where you don't hear the city's loud traffic at all. And the grounds of the hostel are really beautiful.
