It's such a wonderful guest house! The staff is so helpful and will go the extra mile to answer all questions, give recommendations, and make sure that everything is okay. It's also a social place, chance to chat and meet other travellers. If you're a solo traveller in Nagano, this is the perfect place to stay!

Nao, the owner of the Dot Hostel, was extremely helpful to us. We arrived at his hostel by bicycle with a medical issue (my husband's back). Nao speaks perfect English, was able to discuss with us what we needed, and made many phone calls to find us a doctor to see my husband right away. Even after we were no longer staying at the Dot Hostel, Nao was very responsive and continued to help us navigate the Japanese medical system, including finding a physical therapist and acupuncturist. Nao has a garage where we could park our bicycles, convenient laundry, a place to hang and dry out our camping gear, strong wifi, a full well stocked kitchen that was a pleasure to use, and a comfy hangout area. The dorms were well laid out, well ventilated and cooled with openable screened windows, and the toilet and shower were spotless. I am a light sleeper, but didn't notice any noise from other rooms as described by other reviewers. The hostel is located a one minute walk from the Zenko-ji temple. The hostel is an incredible value and I would absolutely stay there again.

Great location, and helpful staff. I was going to miss checkin, so they called me and arranged self checkin. The drink bar and facilities were awesome.
