The bedroom window opened to a green field with sheep which we absolutely loved. We could also watch and listen to robins, wrens and song thrushes in the trees and bushes around. The whole place was so cosy and caringly designed/equipped (bread, butter, milk, cereals, tea and biscuits where there wating for us!), it was hard to leave on our last day :'-) The kitchen equipment was satisfactory, although the lighting was a bit poor in that area. We enjoyed the fireplace very much, also the woodfired hot tub outside which was a bit difficult to operate though. Maybe some instructions will be provided in the future since it seemed quite new. The hot press was great for putting things in to dry after a showery day out walking. Although it is a dog friendly accomodation, there was no smell or animal hairs left anywhere - apart from the poor Seamus Heany Selected Poems edition which must have been a chewing toy for a dog some time in the past. Cleanliness: Due to the surroundings there were a lot of sow bugs that came into the cottage and eventually died there. It didn't bother us at all - we found them quite amusing - but I thought other people would like to know in advance. In late August, there were also a lot of moquitos - but this is all nature and nothing the host can do anything about.

A stunning house located in a picturesque location! Perfect for big groups as there are plenty of spacious rooms! It was lovely waking up having a cup of coffee overlooking the water! Highly recommend we had a fabulous stay 😊

Tracy was so friendly and showed us around explaining everything, so nice to have a host instead of a ring door bell and a lock box for keys.

We enjoyed a brilliant weekend staying in this 2 bedroom house and would highly recommend it for a quiet weekend away in a beautiful little town. Mary was there to greet us on arrival and show us around the house, how to use heating and hot water etc. The house is decorated beautifully and has everything you would need, including plenty of towels, pillows, full kitchen and even a few books and decks of cards. The house is about 3mins from the bus stop at portaferry Square, and on the same street as the Eurospar, Captain Jack's bistro (highly recommended) and other bars and a Chinese. The town is small so all the great pubs are only a short walk away as is the aquarium and shore and ferry. The price for this house is very competitive and I would not hesitate to book again, we even stayed the extra night last minute and it was no hassle at all.
