Situated just outside of Hakalau, 20 km from Hilo, Mahana House Country Inn is a non-smoking property and features ocean views, free WiFi access, and free private parking. Simply one of the best places worldwide we ever visited. There was fresh fruit and avocado in the fridge everyday and you are welcome to stroll around on the premises and pick any of the seasonal fruits. We ate lychee e.g. directly from the tree. It's a must if you visit big island and like to be in the less crwoded countryside.

Located 1 mile from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, this Volcano historical lodge features a hot tub. Lava viewing at Halema'uma'u Crater is 4 miles away. Right next to Volcano Park. Lovely location, lovely rooms. Except for the frogs, it was quiet and peaceful. Food was good. We really liked this hotel.

Everything was great. Well maintained, clean and an excellent location to explore the north side of the island from. If we come back to the big island any time in the future we’d definitely stay here again.
