J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Super cool hostel. The staff was super nice, and the people I met there as well. The private onsens were great, especially the outdoor one. I slept on the dormitory, and the futon beds were really comfortable and you had a lot of space for yourself. As there are not many food options around, they asked me before if I wanted to order a bento box, which I did. It was very delicious. I would really recommend this place to stay during the Kumano Kodo. Super great hostel and also great value!

We really enjoyed the sauna and hot tub that felt brand new. It is also a convenient 10-minute walk to the beach! The host took some memorable pictures of us, which we also really appreciate. This is a special place ran by a genuine, down-to-earth host. Thank you G-Sun for creating a lovely Wakayama experience!

The owners went out of their way helping us to get our daughter's phone back, which she had left on the train (driving to the station in the middle of the night and organizing the key to the train!). Set in Tanabe, 23 km from Shirahama Hot Spring, Kumano Kodo Nagano Guesthouse features a garden and air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. The accommodation offers a concierge service for guests. Simon was a wonderful host. He tried to help us have the best experience possible on our Kumano Kodo. Is also just a lovely human. The accommodation is in the most gorgeous place, because it was not in a central location. Simon works very hard to shuttle his guests to and from Tanabe and the trailhead. The house itself is beautiful and we enjoyed talking to him and learning about his small village of 70 people.
