5 STAR EXPERIENCE FOR 3 STAR PRICE - i have stayed at numerous establishments over the years and this guesthouse is one of the best. The room was large and very comfortable with a fridge, kettle, microwave & TV. My room was decorated with inspiring and artful decor of a high standard. The linen, duvet & pillows were fresh, clean and plump, and the bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean. I arrived to a warm welcome and a serene setting in a beautiful garden. The location is superb as it is close to town but very peaceful next to a mountain stream. Restaurants are in walking distance.

The breakfast was excellent. It was served outside in a lovely garden. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the hosts left milk, water, home made rusks. The location was easy to find and close to the center of Clarens. The hostess, Mercia, was extraordinarily gracious. We thoroughly enjoyed talking with her. Our stay there was the last night in S. Africa and my birthday and Mercia made it memorable!

Awesome stay My husband and I really enjoyed our stay, from the friendly welcome from Karel and Harley (the resident dog) to the amazing views from the room, every day was truly enjoyable. The room is clean and well equipped. Crisp clean linen with electric blankets and underfloor heating for those cold winter nights. The complimentary sherry, chocolates, tea, coffee, fresh milk make the stay feel a little like home away from home. There are various breakfast options which Karel freshly prepares every morning. (Muffins are top class) The B&B is well located within a short walking distance from all shops and restaurants though far enough from the centre of town to avoid one feeling as you are stuck within the buzz of this small town. Karel is an excellent host and always willing to provide his knowledge and advice of the area to make ones stay truly enjoyable and is also open to hearing recommendations from others. Many thanks for the birthday surprise Karel. We will be back

Absolutely wonderful stay! We made a very last minute booking and still we got the best welcome. Sonia and Tinus are amazing hosts and they run an extra mile for you. They are always willing to help and we got a lot of recommendations, also for our next destination. The property itself is great, our room was big and clean. The view is stunning and the breakfast is good and delicious.

We love staying at Baris Guesthouse. This is the second time we have stayed there, and we are looking forward to the third time. It is a great escape from the big city because of the peaceful life on the farm.

Fantastic location, nice warm room and comfortable bed for a cold night. 1 minute walk to the brewery which was convenient and a great experience for a short stay in Clarens. Breakfast at the owner's bakery in the morning was also delicious.
