Portovenere is the perfect place to escape from the hubbub of the other “cinque terre” towns. Although access to the 5 terre was dependent on boats/ bus to La Spezia and then the train, we felt it was not a major barrier and worth avoiding the excessive crowds. The suite was perfect and well appointed/comfortable. the balcony overlooked the water and it was lovely to sit there at the end of the day. It was a few step walk to the rocky “brach” for refreshing swim. Despite the busy waterfront, the balcony door, once closed, was quite sound proof. The owners, Gianluca and Alessandro were hospitable and went out of their way to help. Their restaurant below served Italian breakfast for us and we also had dinner there. We were treated to aperitivo one night. Their response to my questions before arrival were immediate and helpful when we thought we needed a taxi.

Everything: location, balcony, wide bed, clean bathroom. We were extremely happy for the electric drying rack - after a hard hiking day it is a must when its raining outside. We arrived to Portovenere without a hotel booking and after we booked this place sitting in a bench in the harbour, the owner contacted us in a few minutes and sent directions to find the right place. Very good communication. I really reccomend this place.

The place was amazing considering the location, staff, very kind and generous owners, nice & stylish room, very nice facilities, highly recommended!!! Also the owners of the place recommended of many places and restaurants to visit which made our trip to Porto Venere fabulous.

We LOVED this location! It was our first time in this area and we were SO happy! We were just outside all the chaos that Cinque Terre seemed to be, but it was very convenient to travel to those locations. The breakfast was excellent!!!

We had a lovely stay at L’Ancora! The owner was the most friendly one with exceptional will to serve customers. Location was perfect: it was quiet and peaceful and the bed was very comfortable. The room and the whole building was perfectly clean. This place has a soul that makes your stay unforgetable. We had a room with a view in to the ocean, and eating breakfast by the window was lovely way to start the day. I definately recommend getting the room by the sea.

We stayed here a couple of years ago and still very much enjoyed the air conditioned property. Really a 3 room accommodation with a lovely little balcony overlooking the harbor and the people walking on the pierside below with a few restaurants. The breakfast was excellent and my wife loved her cappucino. Unfortunately we could only stay one night. Next time it will be at least 3 nights.
