I wanted to stay in a more rural part of Portugal, and the Tapada de Beira was just what I was looking for. Beira is a very small town, basically two streets. Within a radius of 10K there are two castles and many hiking trails. The selection of restaurants is good, and a number of excellent ones 7K away in Castelo de Vide. The guest house was very nice with a large room and very nice bathroom. Private parking right beside the guest house. The farm animals added to the atmosphere. A grocery store was 5K away. I highly recommend this place.

Superb breakfast. Locally sourced. Fantastic homemade cake. Good selection of meat ,cheese,honey , different breads etc Very quiet room,Lots of different spaces to sit outside. Lovely pool. Fabulous host who spoke great english. 10 minute walk to a bar.
