Excellent location. Not far from Fukuoka and we drive all the way from the airport within 2 hours. Best retreat so far and we will definitely go back in different seasons. Driving to places are simple and easy. Can go to mountain hike or the lake areas.

A very lovely town.
A very lovely town.
But too many tourists during the weekend.
Too many Korean tourists, which quite some of them are lack of manners, speaking too too loudly, taking pictures everywhere, dominating the roads while walking with groups...

Yufu is one of those places where the place itself is wonderful but the vibe from other tourists and angry, upset staff members in shops can really darken an otherwise bright experience. It reminded me a lot of Kyoto in that way. The place, the shops, the scenery are all great... but tourists tend to be pushy, demanding, selfish, etc. And this leads many of the staff of establishments to be cold, distant, or upset; and rightfully so. I would like to go back there and spend more time at one of the inns. The staff there are usually very kind and helpful, and the spaces are very comfortable. But the place itself I could take a pass on.

We stay in Yufuin for 2 days, but travel 1 day to Beppu and the other in Yufuin. Yufuin is an absolutely lovely place. Every thing is so cute! And a lot of street food along the way.
The best thing is Onsen Ryokan! Don't miss to enjoy traditional Japanese style accommodation.
The thing I don't like here is that shops mostly close around 5PM, staff (both in hotel and shop) don't really speak English. They will try to explain to you, but in Japanese TT Also, trash bins are hard to find along the street.
I really enjoy the accommodation here, and the city is just too cute. You can take photos in almost every corner. This city is a MUST!

Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place.
Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place. The main shopping street Yunotubo is cosy and easy to stroll. There are many good cafes along the way. We enjoyed very much cafe Pepper and Anahata. Watch out for unusual snow that blocked the highway from Hakata to Yufuin. Otherwise it is easy to get to.

The traditional Japanese dinner is incredible!
The traditional Japanese dinner is incredible! I like Japanese food and the food we had there is definitely the best ever. The traditional Japanese breakfast was great too.
Location is good too.
We plan to come back next year with more family members!
The room is spacious and there was a heated blanket plus bean bags to relax while sipping tea.
The private onsen is a plus feature with indoor and outdoor pool except that it is located outside the lobby building. In cold season, it can be pretty unpleasant to walk out in the cold. Instead the public onsen is in the same building as the rooms and lobby.
A good place to stay as it is located within walking distance to the kinrin lake and floral village.
It is so beautiful. If you really want to experience authentic japanese living, i really would recommend this place. From the japanese room with the view of garden and the mountain to the authentic “oishi” japanese kaiseki dinner and delicious breakfast. All ingredients are fresh and delicious. The place in near the station and shops and the lake are walkable. The experience of using the private onsen outside with garden view is best.
The staff was amazing, excellent service and food! The location was excellent, 4 min walk from Yunotsubo Kaido, where the main food & shopping street is - snoopy cafe and store, Yufuin Floral Village, Miffy store etc.
The private onsens were wonderful, the room is a bit old, otherwise the whole stay was beautiful.
The reception lady is wonderful - greeted us with a big smile, explained the onsen, room and facilities, offered welcome drink, and then walked us to our room. Private onsen in-room is a bonus, so relaxing! Breakfast is also good with nice variety of food. Overall we had a very memorable stay!
This is a quaint Ryokan with a friendly owner and his wife. The room was comfortable with a cedar bath. Breakfast and dinner were included and delicious. When we left the hotel, they gave us tangerines and even drove us to the train station. Located within minutes of the Yufuin Floral Village.
Very close to Yufuin Station and Yufuin Bus Centre. Clean and large rooms, well designed bathroom. Coin laundry available. Has their own cafe downstairs, and also public onsen available though we did not use it. There is also a 7-11 nearby along with restaurant options. Ace location.
The hotel is very near Yufuin station and has a bicycle for rent-free. The staff are friendly and the Akari chan ( dog ) is very cute and the cat too. Overall it’s good for a couple who visit Yufuin village. The onsen is a private room and needs to be reserved at the peak time.
The staff was polite and helpful especially with Ella, a Filipino at the front office. She speaks English which made check in easy.
The huge public indoor onsen pool and the open-air pool adjoining it.
Splendid view of Mt Yufu from the room, onsen pool and lobby.
The room is BIG. Our room has a private onsen bath with mountain view. The view is so beautiful. And all the staff are friendly and hospitable. Everything is so great. If I come to Yufuin again, I will absolutely choice stay here again.
the location is very near to the Yufuin station and place to see and do. the onsen was good. the staff is kind and doing their job very well even when we arrived late at night. the dog and cat is very friendly and clean.
The private onsen was superb, didn't try their public facility. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly.
Please understand what you are booking, it tries to be authentic and traditional not a 5 star recreation.
I felt fortunate that we had a place close to management because the walkways were rocky and seemed unstable. The private onsen was fairly clean and so beautiful, as well as relaxing.
Staff are very nice, helpful and friendly.
Private onsen is clean and spacious.
The location is not far from the sightseeing spots like floral village or Kinrin lake.
There is a private onsen. Room are comfortable and the check in is fast. Location is only about 7 mins walk from the train station. Very quiet area but feel safe.
The soup quality of the public onsen is good. It smooth our skin. However, it’s not the same quality in the private onsen which I spent most of the time there.
