The breakfast buffet was lovely, offering a variety of baked goods, creamy eggs, fresh yogurt, fresh fruit, juice and espresso.
It was a peaceful setting only minutes to a couple of good restaurants.
The family-owned Hótel Lækur is set on an Icelandic horse farm, between the Golden Circle and the south coast. Hella is 10 minutes’ drive away. It offers a sun terrace and a guest lounge.

This is a beautiful, newly built property, with really lovely design and layout. It’s in a remote location which adds to the charm but it’s a drive to the nearest shops or restaurants. I ate before I arrived because I was unsure what food was available but there is a small menu that would have been sufficient for me. The breakfast provided was lovely. As many other reviews have mentioned, Bernat, the manager is wonderful. He really looks after his guests and he provides generouse, attentive and friendly service and brilliant information.
This guest house is located in Katla Geopark, just 20 minutes’ drive from Thórsmörk hiking area. It offers mountain and countryside views, plus free Wi-Fi and parking.

The houses where the rooms are collocated are stunning. We had a bathroom only for us because the other room in our house was free and It was clean and useful.

Location was perfect for us, fitting perfectly into our schedule. The owner was very friendly. Room was on a small side, but it was ok for the night. It was a lovely surprise that there was some coffee/tea and some cereal even for the breakfast available (we were prepped though with some bread etc ;))

Convenient location after a day around the Golden Circle before setting off on the rest of the Ring Road. Too late to book breakfast on arrival (shame as homemade breads and jams sound lovely), but big supermarket not far away. Review for bigger room than we had booked (studio) due to misunderstanding on arrival of other guests - simple, spacious living area and good kitchen, bed and bedding very warm and comfortable, and a kind host.
Offering a garden, Hekla Adventures is set in Hvolsvöllur. Free WiFi is featured throughout the property and free private parking is available on site.
