Excellent breakfast, it is a college environment so you are in a refectory, which I enjoyed but some might expect table service.

The breakfast was great and the principal staff member on in the morning was lovely. They are trying. There was thought behind what was provided and a nice welcome but cleanliness was a big issue.

Cute bathroom with all amenities and large room
Perfect location
Amazing breakfast - the English breakfast, well sourced food and lovely area for it
Nice outdoor seating
Its a beautiful house in magnificent grounds. There's a buzz of creative activity about West Dean which is what will entice me back to attend one of their many courses. We ate in the local pub, as we only stayed one night: a very pleasant but not too long a walk away. Look out for the peacock on the roof of a house in the village, he'll certainly make his presence felt. Our room was lovely, the bed extremely comfortable, all our needs anticipated with a hair dryer, iron etc, and the ensuite bathroom very luxurious. I couldn't have wished for more. Take sturdy shoes as the grounds are extensive and worth a look.

Really enjoyed the outdoor pool for daily swim, although changing facilities very basic & rather a trek from the main house.
An evening meal was available, but not taken.
Disappointed in cooked breakfast choice, although cold buffet bits were good.
Comfy room. Helpful staff. Lovely grounds.
Ideal for a quiet escape.
There were 'student activities' happening, but they did not compromise our stay.

THis is a unique and very special place, hard to compare wit anywhere else because it is a beautiful building, run very efficiently but with friendly staff. Breakfast, in a canteen setting, was excellent, the room was fantastic and I loved every minute except for leaving!

We enjoyed the evening meal at The Partridge Inn better than the Selsey Arms.
We were there to visit the Weald and Downland Museum on our 55th Wedding Anniversary on the 29th., so it was very convenient. Had a great day, but very tiring.

A beautiful location, the freedom to walk in the gardens and parkland is a huge bonus. It is peaceful. My room was great - comfortable, clean and warm. The building itself is fabulous. I didn't leave the site. I ate in the restaurant for all my meals and was impressed by the choice and the different dietary options on offer. Pleasant and efficient staff at reception to answer any questions, likewise the catering staff and the housekeeping staff. I look forward to staying again.
Not a hotel, more like a B&B in a stately home. The history, antiques, decor, atmosphere and vibe, if only all hotels/B&Bs were like this. The massive lounge with the huge open fire until gone 10pm each night, you can't build something like that to order. Surrounded by countryside and gardens. I could go on. For a romantic break, you'll find this place hard to beat.
Ground-bean coffee machines in abundance (free to use) and a breakfast well above standard.
If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful, scenic and beautiful place to stay, the West Dean manor house and extensive and gorgeously landscaped gardens and grounds are the place to go. Just need to have a car. Great full breakfast, but must go out for lunch and dinner. Also enjoyed the heated swimming pool. Beds very comfortable. Be warned though, no AC, no TV. Not generally needed, and windows open. Lots of places to explore (by car) for day trips.
The room was tiny and only one person could be in the bathroom at a time. There were no mirrors in the room and the walls were very thin. There must have been student accommodation right next to the room as they were making noises all until the early hours of the morning. Breakfast was ok but nothing special, all a bit dry and stodgy. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. There was no real atmosphere in the hotel although the grounds are stunning.
I love the location because I am an ex student from West Dean, and I wanted to catch up with some people and it was the easiest place for me to stay while I was there. The food is excellent, although there is less available than pre pandemic when there was a wonderful salad bar. It is lovely and quiet and the atmosphere is warm and friendly.
Lovely building in the beautiful West Dean Gardens. Very nice staff. Comfortable room with nice big shower and an amazing view. Buffet breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Free access to the park and fantastic marked walks.
The fact that a tour around the beautiful West Dean Gardens was included made this overnight stay a simply wonderful experience. The house was exceptionally grand and to have a room in the main building was quite a treat.
The location is lovely, so is the pub and the food! My only regret is loitering in Chichester during the day and not heading to West Dean earlier to enjoy it fully. Great size rooms and all very comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious and a perfect start to the day. The gardens are exquisite. West Dean was a wonderful bubble to spend 24 hours in. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. We will be back.
The location is fantastic and the west dean college building itself is such a beautiful place to stay at. I'd highly recommend this place and will definitely be back in the future
The breakfast was good, a lovely building and friendly accommodating night staff, I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel. I would use them again if needed next time.
The hotel was set in stunning grounds with access to all areas. The gardens were exceptional and well worth walking around. The Colleage was oozing history.
The breakfast was good with all the usual things available. The location and outlook combined with West Dean's renowned gardens were the star of the show.
