The entire staff was welcoming and helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel like family. The property was clean and quiet. The full breakfast that was available ever was well prepared and tasty. Their onsite pub was warm and inviting. The owners answered any questions we had and was very helpful to give us ideas for places to see.

Lovely location for exploring south west Scotland.
Lovely location for exploring south west Scotland. Very close to Drumlanrig Castle amazing country walks and spectacular castle. Went to the beach at Carse which was great for dog walks. Thornhill itself had a lovely local pub with good valued food. Local bakery and butchers plus Co-op and Spar.

Thornhill is a small village in “the middle of nowhere.”
Thornhill is a small village in “the middle of nowhere.” This is what a local said to me. The scenery is beautiful with the rolling hills and the farmers fields. The village itself is quaint with impressive looking buildings.

We stayed in Thornhill as we’d left Liverpool in the morning and I wanted to see Drumlanrig Castle in the afternoon.
Very pretty little village with a few cafes, small supermarket and gift stores. Two pubs.

Thornhill is a really quiet place but its in a great location for exploring the surrounding areas and makes a change from the overcrowded Lake District. Having said that there are very few other options in the town for eating and drinking.

Large village/small town, has a chippie and Chinese with a few shops. It was an overnight stop of a long journey for us, but some of the surrounding area looks interesting enough to explore given the time.
A couple of the local started conversations with me whilst waiting for our take-away, which is always nice, and it appeared a very friendly place.
It was the best night away I've had in a while - something different and definitely worth it! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, far comfier than I've ever had staying in a hotel! I loved the decor and getting up in the morning to birds singing and the most wonderful view definitely topped it off. Zoe and Tony were a lovely couple and very welcoming. We will be staying again!
Very convenient holiday home: light and spacious and ideally located in the middle of a region with lots of things to do and see. The village of Thornhill is well equipped with small supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and even a coffee bar although the general atmosphere is average.
The cottage itself was just perfect. Everything was right there and so clean and comfy. Stayed over in Thornhill for a wedding so didn't spend much time in the cottage and didn't get to utilise the little garden. Would gladly stay there again if the need ever arose.
Lovely cosy cottage to spend Christmas with my husband. Well equipped kitchen and we loved the log burner. Bed very big and comfortable. Within good commuting distance of Dumfries for food shopping. Would highly recommend booking a stay here.
had a lovely stay & Elizabeth was superb host & made sure all was satsfactory. The period house is very comfortable & spacious with quiet relaxed atmosphere....very different from the city hotels & stopovers :)
The hotel is charming and the room was spacious, comfortable and very cosy. The staff were lovely and helpful and dinner and drinks at the hotel bar/restaurant were great quality and reasonably priced.
Lovely location for walking or cycling. A few miles away is Thornhill which has some lovely eating places. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the property is very clean and well equipped.
Everything, perfect location, supplied everything that was needed, definitely recommend and will book again, wouldn't stay at a hotel again when there are places like this to stay
I had a small chalet type room next to the hotel which was very quite and a fantastic room.
Breakfast was very relaxing with excellent food that was freshly cooked.
We enjoy the peacefulness of the location, with no main roads nearby, lots of wildlife, and country walks. It is close to Thornhill so you can visit this town.
