A great example of a northern mill town but not the main reason for visiting this picturesque Yorkshire town.
Famed for the BBC show "Last of the Summer Wine", it's a mecca for anyone who's funny bone has been tickled by this warm comedy from the 70's through to the early part of the 2000's.
Modern hostelries abound, some great exhibitions, cafes and pubs used extensively in the TV series all combined with the beauty of the Yorkshire landscape featured throughout the escapades of the characters of the show.
We'll be back in the summer to further explore the scenic beauty and further enjoy the views these three old men brought to life on our TV screens.

Holmfirth is a great place to visit.
Holmfirth is a great place to visit. Home of “Last of the summer wine” of course but also a great venue to visit is The Picturedrome for a Northern Soul music gig which was fantastic. Some lovely bars and eateries plus some quirky shops as well. Defo a place to visit for the weekend.

Fantastic variety of independent pubs, restaurants and cafes...
Fantastic variety of independent pubs, restaurants and cafes, for both day and night. Most places are dog friendly. Holmfirth does not just feel like a tourist town, but a genuinely welcoming, thriving town for all and the neighbouring villages and country pubs are well worth exploring. P
The owner Andrea was very friendly and helpful with a good sense of humor. She left a personalised booklet giving advice on local places that were good and those that were not so. The cottage was really nice and clean and full of character with quirky-shaped rooms and corridors. We came down to see bands that were playing at the Picturedome, which was an easy 2-minute walk, as were a number of restaurants for after. We will no doubt be coming back once more bands we like come play Holmfirth.
Lovely place, very relaxing, ideal for visit to Holmfirth and surrounding area; only 5 minutes by taxi to centre of Holmfirth. Traditional stone/contemporary decor. Restaurant and bar serving good selection of food and drinks. Lively atmosphere Saturday night. Warm welcome from the staff who strive to do everything to help during your stay. We had a comfortable room with tea/coffee making facilities/hairdryer/fan etc. We stayed for one night and enjoyed our stay.
Tucked away from the main road within walking distance of a free 72 hour car park it was perfect for our needs. Clean with kitchen facility with complementary tea/coffee it completely met our needs. The bed was really comfy & the temperature perfect. It's a great base for getting to Holmfirth Picturehouse.
The Hotel was excellent - clean; the facilities were excellent and our room was spacious with really good facilities. All staff were friendly, professional & very proficient & food was always tasty with a varied choice. Would strongly recommend the hotel and would stay again.
Fabulously located in the heart of Holmfirth and very close to shops, pubs and cafes. Really well resourced with everything thing you could possibly think of for a comfortable self catering stay. I’d definitely return and highly recommend.
Spotlessly clean with added extras to make our stay comfortable, great location for Holmfirth town. Parking the bottom of the hill and walking to property wasn’t a problem at all…..great stay and fantastic communication with host
The history of the house, the surrounding architecture from its industrial past, and the easy access to countryside and to Holmfirth made for an enjoyable stay. The house is compact but has all that is needed for a couple.
The stay was ideal for a brief trip to Holmfirth. It was a two mile walk in which we enjoyed. We didn’t meet the owner but the instructions to park and access the property were very detailed so not an issue.
Breakfast, there was a good menu with good quentities and very helpful staff.
The room was well equpited, the bathroom had good lighting.
The location, good for a visit to the vineyard in Holmefirth.
Absolutely gorgeous little cottage, beautifully decorated.
The only thing to bear in mind is that it's up a VERY steep hill - as is most of Holmfirth, but that helps burn off the calories 🙂
lovely friendly homely hotel, love the homely casual feel of the restaurant and bar, the staff are lovey and welcoming. great home cooked food in the bar or restaurant and its Dog friendly.
Cosy cottage, comfy beds, well equipped. Easy walk into Holmfirth. Kate, the host, very helpful, excellent communication and gave very good suggestions for local walks and pubs for food.
This cottage has so much character, such a lovely place situated right in the heart of Holmfirth. Heath, the owner, couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was perfect.
