Waya Lailai Eco Haven, hotel in Kuata

Waya Lailai Eco Haven has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Wayasewa Island. The accommodation offers entertainment staff and a concierge service.

The island life was amazing and the entire community helps running the resort (this is one of the few that is fully run by the local village). Everyone was super nice and helpful. The food was really good and had good vegetarian options. I definitely recommend the snorkeling tour with reef sharks, this was one of the best things we did in Fiji! The reef at the beach of the island is also really beautiful and has a lot of colourful fish :) We had a really great time and we will definitely be back!

Lusis Homestay, hotel in Kuata

Providing sea views, Lusis Homestay in Lautoka provides accommodation, a garden and a bar. Free WiFi is included throughout the property. The units in the homestay are equipped with a flat-screen TV.

It was in a beautiful location, I done lots of amazing activities while staying (snorkelling with reef sharks/ school visit/ hike up the mountain) The whole village seemed to welcome me. Please remember this is a homestay in a very small village with limited supplies, it wasn’t a bad thing but be prepared for bucket washes, not much privacy (you are in a homestay after all) and the home life of a family living on an island. I felt very safe as a solo traveler!

Very good atmosphere. Staff is friendly and enthusiastic. The facilities are good and clean. Shared toilets and showers were close to the bure. Food was nice with enough choice. There were lots of activities and it was interesting to learn more about the reef and the manta rays. Swimming with the manta rays was very well organised. Very good snorkelling equipment.

This is a lovely island, with lots of friendly and helpful staff. I had my own little house that was super clean, but you can also rent bunkbed tents. The food is excellent With live entertainment during meals. You do have to buy the extra meal package as there is nothing else on the island except this little tourist village. I think it’s best suited for those who want to dive and/or snorkel and there are lots of organized trips you can go on, or you can snorkel on your own. If you want to just lie on the beach, this isn’t really the place for you. I had a wonderful time and met some great people. Thank you Barefoot Quata :)

Snorkelling from the back beach around to the front beach...

Snorkelling from the back beach around to the front beach was fantastic. Unfortunately accommodation (tent on beachfront) was very old with missing tabs on all of the window flaps (some missing completely) and activities in package very limited (eg snorkel gear had to be returned by 4pm each day!) Definitely not value for money.
