It was immaculate and so large, and very sunny. It was very well stocked.
Hotel-Apartamento Rural Atxurra has an ideal setting in the Urdaibai Natural Park, near the Basque coastal town of Bermeo. It has a terrace and a garden.
Bermeo is a small port town. Is interesting to stop by and see it, get better idea of Basque culture, architecture etc. There are some nice places to eat but not something extraordinary. Overall it’s not for too long unless it’s summer and beach activities are an option.
While there it public transport it’s better to have a car.
Near Bermeo there are amazing mountains, nice small towns like Bakio and Munga and the protected area of Urdaibai. Must visit is the cave of Santimamine (needs pre booking).

Although I’ve visited the Basque Country a few times this was my first trip to Bermeo. A beautiful harbour surrounded by restaurants and bars but still remains a peaceful place.
A short walk away is another area with restaurants and bars with a large children’s park which is well used by families.
20 minutes by train to Guernica and just over an hour to Bilbao at inexpensive prices for these journeys.

Lovely seaside/port town.
Lovely seaside/port town. Walking around the town is easy but lots of steps and hills so good exercise 😂Has a little beach used by locals. Is just a 15 minute drive to Bakio where there are more beaches. Port area is very nice. Lots of restaurants in the harbour area. Easy drive through the mountains to San Sebastián, Santander, Bilbao and many more.

A wonderful place to explore the Spanish Basque country.
A wonderful place to explore the Spanish Basque country. Excellent transport links ( bus and train) meant we didn't need our car . A lovely variety of restaurants and bars with fabulous food. Everyone here is so friendly - Great opportunity to practice your Spanish/Basque as not a lot of English spoken which we think makes it a more authentic experience. Loved it!
Bermeo is an excellent town to stay in - so much natural beauty and interesting sites along the coast in both directions, and so easy to get to from Bilbao and elsewhere by public transport. The town itself is unpretentious and calm and very pretty. The host was extremely kind and generous, have such helpful instructions and recommendations, and made the entire experience delightful. It has a little balcony which is very cute and the beds are very comfy - even the sofa bed! would recommend this immensely.
Very clean, spacious and conveniently located, steps from the plaza. Its in a very nice and safe building, great if you are traveling alone. it has everything you need, even a washing machine! I had a wonderful night sleep there and the host is super helpful and nice. She goes above and beyond to make your stay the best. I was going to just drop my luggage because it was early but the apartment was ready and she gave me the keys! I also forgot something and she contacted me and sent it to me.
My significant other and I stayed here for 1 night along our road trip from Bilbao to San Sebastian. I wish I had known how wonderful it would be beforehand as we would have stayed another night. Everything here blew us away - the friendliness and care of the people, the stunning and relaxing location, the super clean and cozy room with eco-friendly essentials, and the simple, but incredibly delicious light dinner and breakfast. This was easily a favorite stop.
The hotel is tucked away in a beautiful area just outside of Bermeo. It feels tranquil, farms and animals nearby, a view of the ocean and pine forests. the people who run the hotel are absolutely lovely—they make sure you are happy and comfortable and enjoying yourself. It’s impossible not to enjoy yourself here. a wonderful location for exploring basque country or just having a relaxing getaway in the countryside.
We had an entire apartment in the greatest location in old town Bermeo and one block from the harbor and water. Gotzon was so kind and accommodating and we
extended our time to three nights instead of one because we loved Bermeo and the beauty around there and the apartment. . Gracias Gotzon for your great apartment rental. A great
place if you decide to stay at Gotzon’s Pension.
Cristina was extremely welcoming and accomodating and made us feel at home, despite us not having a common language!
The room was very spacious, comfortable and warm and the shower was great.
Large shared kitchen area had everything we needed.
Rural, peaceful setting but very easy to get into Bermeo and explore the surrounding area and we even took the train to Bilbao one day.
Good location with lots to do in the immediate area and a twisty drive to Bilbao for the large city experience.
The owner was very helpful when I messed up the door lock and communicated very well before we arrived with very clear instructions and a video on how to get to the apartment and (included in the rental price) garage.
Beautiful location in a peaceful valley, made for a very relaxing place to spend a few days. There is plenty of opportunity to walk and hike nearby, and it’s not far from Bermeo or Mundaka. The food was delicious and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We had a wonderful stay!
Fantastic location being the last property towards the harbour, with great views. Bermeo itself had a very interesting harbour, and Ok to swim in the outer parts of the large harbour. Great walk along seawall. 20 min ride to St John Castle rock
Amazing, very cute place to stay in Bermeo 😁Lovely stuff! ☺️ The girl from the reception (I’m really sorry as I forgot the name) provided me all the necessary information & she made me feel at the place like home. I fully recommend!
We loved the delightful and helpful family of staff, the absolutely gorgeous location of the hotel, the spacious room, well-equipped kitchen, and lovely, healthy vegetarian breakfast.
The apartment is in the middle of Bermeo. Amazing tapas places al around, fabulous views of the Atlantic from the end of the road and a super helpful host!
No better place to stay when you want to visit Bermeo and enjoy the daily life at the Basque coast! The appartment offers a splendid view on the harbour.
