Beautiful, stunning, serene! The 4,000 acre nature reserve is a hiker’s dream. Great trails for exploring the forests and rivers. The cabins are comfortable, the restaurant is excellent, the staff is very attentive, helpful and kind. I can’t wait to return.

San Gerardo de Rivas looks very typical, gardens full of flowers, and a few things worth the stay (besides the Chirripo ascent):
- the cloudbridge reserve, to discover amazing sceneries and birds (4x4 recommended as the road is rough)
- secret gardens: lovely garden with a mirador and a restaurant
- a few others that we haven’t tried (thermal baths, butterfly sanctuaries...)
- the Batsu is a very nice local restaurant
- the restaurant of the Rio Chirripo is excellent
Take some cash in Rivas as there is no ATM further up.
