Beautiful national park and the amenities in the surrounding...
Beautiful national park and the amenities in the surrounding town are plenty. It was easy to walk around, although take notice of the traffic on the main road. It got pretty busy and fast sometimes. We stayed near our resort for meals within walking distance- El Wagon was a good family spot for dinner's not spent at our resort. We had an excellent lunch and cup of coffee at Emelio's Café. The town has plenty of grocery stores for any daily needs.
We only tried two beaches. Playa Bisanz had tricky parking and the guys watching cars honestly looked a bit sus. We did not stay there for long. Playa Manuel Antonio was absolutely beautiful. The park fee/ reservations keep it low key and it's well worth the visit and admission fee. The water was warm and the beach clean. Watch your belongings as the capuchin monkeys that bounce around are more than happy to raid your bag, as we witnessed happening to one of our fellow beachgoers.
If you're driving yourself to the park, take notice of the official parking. The locals are harmless but a bit aggressive with trying to get you to park in their lots so they can charge you. We got forced into a lot by a gentleman jumping into the road, then kicked out when we told them we didn't want a guided tour with them. We laughed it off, as we could have easily just driven around him. If you book your adventures with a company, they all offer transpiration.
That said, a guided tour with a reputable company (We did Jade Tours) for the national park is a must. We saw WAAAAY more than we would have on our own, including a sloth fight. Well worth the fee.
We also did a kayak/mangrove tour with Narcacosta and a guided horseback/waterfall tour with Brisas del Nara- I cannot say enough good things about either one of these organizations. Top tier experience, knowledgeable guides, and beautiful facilities.

I forgot to mention before about the assistance I got from the customer service representative ELISABETH. She helped me since the very begin of my reservation to the very end with great knowledge, efficiency and patience. I am I little challenged with the internet but she was right there for me, did not matter the time. We are all lucky for having her.

Good beaches.
Good beaches. Espadilla, even when crowded, is large enough that you can walk a little and get a fairly empty beach if you prefer. A car is a must-have if you plan to explore the town, but you're not missing much if you stay in a resort with beach and jungle access the whole time. The most expensive restaurants are good, all others are nothing special and just okay to not be hungry. You'll get better treatment as a foreigner because people expect tips, so definitely take advantage of that if you are one.

Mid-February is very hot and humid for this area - 90 degrees Fahrenheit everyday. We really enjoyed visiting the park and seeing rainforest wildlife, swimming at the beaches (watch out for strong rip tides!), and familiarizing ourselves with an area we had never been to before. Be ready to pay tourist prices (you are in a high tourism area - and it is so for a good reason), but if you can get an apartment with a kitchen, visiting the Quepos farmer's market and being able to make some of your own meals make this area more affordable. Glen's on the beach has the best chairs and his whole family is so kind and helpful. Going into the park for the first time with a guide is highly recommended, but so is going a second time on your own at your own pace. Get there first thing in the morning, because it heats up and gets busy after 9 AM. Eat at the Falafel Bar, like everyone says, because it is delicious (the smoothies are really refreshing). The public busy is easy to navigate, so use it and explore! Favorite activity in the area, other than the national park, was by far the Night Damas Mangrove Tour with Iguana Tours. Explore and have fun!

The room and bathroom was large and balcony overlooked the jungle, monkeys and birds came to the balcony everyday
The area is so lush with beautiful flowers and trees. The beach area and ocean was really nice. The way down to the beach was easily accessible, the path down has ropes on both sides to help.
Swimming pool was lovely surrounded by tables and umbrellas could have meals there if chosen. Excursions easily booked by agents and very informative.
The location right at the beach is excellent and rare for Manuel Antonio! The rooms were ok, standard American motel - like, and the pool are was fine, too. For is it was all about the beach access, and that was a blast. We had our hammock in the palms at the beach right behind the hotel, so a 30 second walk to the room. Plenty of shady at the beach. Very friendly staff and plenty of parking. The small restaurant offers great breakfast so we recommend going there.
On ground there were monkeys, sloths, birds and geckos.
Despite all the bad reviews, I'm going to write a good review. The location of the hotel is perfect, 3 minutes to Manuel Antonio Park and 4 minutes to the beach. We had an ocean view room. The room had AC and a balcony. The front desk staff was very friendly. They have golf cars to drive you to your room. Breakfast was nice and tasty. They had 2 options.
Monkeys on our balcony in the morning made our day! Don't leave anything on the balcony, especially food.
This stay was far beyond our expectations. It’s right on the mountain road that goes to Manuel Antonio national park and beach. Easy parking and check-in. A great bar, restaurant and perfect staff. They even have hiking routes in the forest that starts at the hotel!
The only downside for us was the quality of the room and bathroom. It wasn’t perfectly clean but it was a good value for the money anyway. I’m sure there are some better room options.
Amazing location, 1 minute walk to the best part of Espadilla beach. The staff were excellent and very helpful, they ordered us taxis and organised a tour of Manuel Antonio park that didn’t rip us off. Breakfast was tasty and reasonably priced for the area. The hotel had a nice chilled vibe and the rooms were beautifully designed and felt very unique! We loved the day beds round the pool too.
best location at a reasonable price - right across the street from the beach and up against the walkway to the entrance of Manuel Antonio national park - nice towels for use at the beach, sand shower available, good water pressure, good toilet flush pressure (put tp in the trash), nice deck to view the beach, probably can see sunset at certain times of the year, close to great restaurants
Very good location, between beaches, and 3km to Manuel Antonio Park. plenty of restaurants in a close walk.
Great view from almost everywhere. small but nice scenic pool. Animals are very frequently at the hotel - monkeys, tucano, I could even see a sloth from the balcony.
staff is very nice and helpful!
if you need to have dinner at the hotel, their restaurant is just fine.
The hotel staff was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful (especially Yara, the cutest french bulldog!!). The breakfast was delicious and filling and it’s served from 6.30am which is great for early morning activities! The rooms are spacious, clean, and the beds are very comfy (+ coffee and AC in the room). We loved our stay and will come back whenever we’re in Costa Rica :)
Price during off season was high but acceptable. The room was in good shape although it was not new. The pool was nice warm and huge. You can walk to Manuel Antonio national park, which is really convenient. Beach is also very close, of course the sand is dark and its not a carribean paradise kind of sea, but still very nice and very warm (october)
Breakfast and Dinner was excellent. Some of the best food we had in Costa Rica. I absolutely loved the Curry Red Snapper for dinner.
Great place to see wildlife. We saw more animals in birds at the hotel than we did at Manuel Antonio. Two toed sloth, macaws that arrive every evening around 5 pm. Toucans seen daily.
LOCATION. You cannot be any closer to Manuel Antonio park than this. in the evening chilling next to the pool we had 2 raccoons visiting us. entrance to the park is 2 minutes by foot. and beach 5 minutes by foot. Structure of the hotel in general is very nice. we really liked our stay here.
Location - right next to Manuel Antonio Park and the beach is just across the road. Lovely garden at the hotel.
Good room size with balcony - enough room for us both to do yoga.
Air con.
Breakfast not included in room rate but available at an extra cost in the restaurant.
The location suited us perfectly Close to the beach and just far enough from the hectic park entrance. The staff was amazing. Stayed an extra night to beat enjoy our last day in Costa Rica with an early morning ocean swim and lovely lunch before we headed to the airport
We absolutely loved this hotel. Great location- two minute walk to the beach and two minute walk to Manuel Antonio park. The pool and rooms were beautiful and the staff was very friendly. It also had a fantastic breakfast and a nice restaurant overall.
Super close to the beach, restaurants, and shops and right by Manuel Antonio Park.
The staff is incredibly nice and go above and beyond to help you.
Breakfast is provided in the restaurant next door and it’s really good.
Hotel offers parking.
The pool was my favorite part about the hotel. The pool had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The hotel service was very helpful by providing good information about Costa Rica when Asked. Also, it was short drive to Manuel Antonio Beach.
Nice hotel with really nice rooms on the hill. Private access to the beach makes it special and that’s highly recommended! Staff was also really nice. Manuel Antonio park is walking distance and avoids paying the parking there.
Breakfast service was fast. We had much closer experiences with capuchin monkeys at the hotel than inside Manuel Antonio National Park. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and offered towels to use at the beach.
the proximity to Manuel Antonio national park and the beach is just amazing. The hotel itself and the staff are so good also. the rooms are well styled and everything is clean!
