We loved everything. The facilities were beyond our expectations and it was perfect in every way. The hot baked scones with coffee on arrival and the glass of port at night were pleasant treats. The rooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed the ambience. It was such a pleasure to look out over the rural area as the fog lifted in the morning while eating our made to order breakfast.

What's not to love about Tenterfield, especially when the Autumn colour puts on a show! There's plenty to do for lovers of history, also several national parks a short distance from town, other scenic drives (Tourist Drives 7 and 9 are highlights), and short road trips to nearby towns that have different character to investigate.
Sadly the Visitor Information Centre is permanently closed so it's best to do your research online or before you get to Tenterfield. Also there are not many places to eat open on certain days of the week (we found Sunday particularly difficult) and several museums and places of interest have reduced their days of opening. Probably Thursday to Sunday provides more options than Sunday to Wednesday.

Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people.
Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people. We had a very negative experience with one boutique shopkeepers' quarters accommodation. which had such potential but didn't see through and especially for the price however the town was gorgeous and everyone else was so friendly and accommodating. We have family living nearby and will come back to this gorgeous little town.
The "Stone Fruit" bar has exceptional coffee, the florist was lovely and arty, and the clothes choices were fantastic! Lots of little quaint coffee places dotted up the street. The Peter Allen motel was old (loved the kitsch orange floor tiles in the bathroom) very clean, central, friendly and just all-round welcoming.

I grew up just down the highway from Tenterfield and was very pleasantly surprised when I visited it again for the first time in 40 years, for a wedding.
The Northern Tablelands of NSW is a beautiful area and Tenterfield now has a great place to stay in the Commercial Boutique Hotel; really good cafes for breakfast or lunch (Badmanners Cafe, Courtyard Cafe); and several restaurants and pubs (Colonial Hotel) for an enjoyable evening meal.
Lots to see in the area or further up or down the New England Highway.

We did not get to the accommodation because of the fires at Tenterfield but that was no fault of the owner who was very helpful to me when I explained our situation. I hope to stay there at a later date when the bush fires settle down and would like to have the money I have paid in abeyance until we can arrange another day to attend

The Town is as dead as a Dodo, but when I was last here 30 years ago, it was then too. One can safely fire a cannon down the road at 7 p.m. and as for finding a meal, there were very limited choices. The next town up the road in Qld, Stanthorpe, is humming!

We only had one day so drove the Mackenzie Mountain tourist route#9 to see the granite rocks and they were amazing. Then drove to Boonoo Boonoo National Park where the walks are quite short to the falls (sadly very little water due to drought conditions but still worth going) The rock pools were beautiful despite low water.
We enjoyed our walk along the main street and visited the Tenterfield Traveller shop.
Lots of great dining options.
There's a skate park which looks brand new and lovely walks through the parklands along Tenterfield Creek
We felt very welcome when we arrived at Royal Hotel Tenterfield, check in was easy and friendly.
Sharon gave us fresh milk and homemade biscuits, what a nice touch. Large clean cups and clean glasses all are cleaned in the dishwasher. (dirty kitchen ware is a pet hate of mine in accommodation)
Our room was clean and comfortable and very quiet as we were not on the main road.
Motel Tenterfield is a beautifully and lovingly restored property.
Fabulous and generous meals are available at the bar area or the Restuarant.
Amazing historical property - a real experience spending time in this stunning property & the beautiful region of Tenterfield.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast included in the price which was very reasonable considering the history/ nature of the accommodation.
Very spacious rooms. Access to shared kitchen / lounge area.
Rooftop lookout with spiral staircase etc - very atmospheric (& great view of town/ surrounding countryside).
We'd definitely recommend.
We recently stayed 4 nights at Tenterfield Motor Inn and we very pleased with our choice of accommodation. Rooms were very clean, staff were friendly, and the location was picturesque. Our accommodation was very affordable, and came with a free light continental breakfast that was delivered to our room each afternoon.
I will definitely be returning again in the near future. I highly recommend this place for anyone passing through Tenterfield. You won't be disappointed..
Sharon is the big seller of this property. They are trying to build up a reputation and the room showed this. The renovations to the Hotel will be amazing and will make a difference. The rooms are an old style but they have done them up and they are really well done and comfortable. Lots of little extras in the room and Sharon is happy to go the extra mile to help out! Would definitely stay again. And Sharon gave us her homemade Anzac biscuits!
The historical ambience of the building and rooms - especially those on the ground floor which have been restored to their former "glory." Stayed in the Venesa Room that featured a "Victorian" 4 poster bed. Continental breakfast served in a communal dining room. Climbing the spiral stairs to the roof top lookout - 360-degree view of Tenterfield. Friendly and welcoming staff.
We enjoyed an overnight stay at Tally Ho motel in Tenterfield. In reception we were made very welcome. Was very quick to deliver our continental breakfast, which was very adequate. What impressed us was, the locked security gate to enter and leave the property. On the main highway into Tenterfield, but our room was quiet, beds comfortable. Highly reccommend Tally Ho Motel.
Our second stay, and absolutely love the cottage. Very comfortable, walking distance to shops, eateries and Coles. Love the history of the cottage and how the it has been decorated with quirky bits and pieces. Breakfast items supplied which is a nice surprise. Looking forward to returning again asap. Love Tenterfield.
the apartment was perfect, clean, tidy, absolutely perfect, complimentary filtered water and espresso machine, if we are ever back in Tenterfield we will be staying here, We actually changed our return trip to stay the second time on our return from up north
Very well organized motel unit with all conveniences of an excellent standard.
Large spacious unit, lounge an very comfy bed.
Continental Breakfast a real bonus.
Short walk to town.
I considered this unit outstanding.😃
The accomodation was very quaint and just what we wanted for a getaway. It was private and quiet, yet super close (short walk) to everything you would need. Great restaurants and cafes nearby. Lovely authentic bathtub!
Perfect location, warm and welcoming this was a wonderful start to our Tenterfield adventures. Loved the big bath and comfy beds. Easy to access and a stroll to the pub - what more could you want. We will book again.
A great little budget motel. Rooms are smallish but not cramped.. Very comfortable bed. Good water pressure and hot. Noticed rooms as they filled were allocated furthest from the road for a quiet night's rest.
