Boasting a garden, shared lounge and views of garden, Cabañas Casa de la Montaña is located in El Platanito, 50 km from Tamul Waterfalls. Our stay was absolutely incredible. The owner and his wife are extremely friendly - catering to our single need - and the location is breath-taking in the middle of the mountains. The cabins and toilets are clean and have everything that one needs. It's definitely a place to relax and get in contact with nature at a very convenient distance from the different waterfalls.

We were there in late February. I loved this place, and can not wait to return! Tanchachin is in a great location for scenery, hiking, and canoeing to Tamul falls. I was there for 5 nights, cooked breakfast and dinners there, walked to the secret falls just down the road. This area is more rural than Tamasopo, and the one street town has small restaurants. I would never stay in Ciudad Valles -- too noisy, too many cars, too many people. Tanchachin was a great rustic getaway. I was in my old Jeep Liberty. Some of the roads have a bit of potholes, just drive carefully. We went to Aquismon for the day. Perfection. We went to Tamasopo for the day. Loved it! And like I said, canoeing to Tamul falls. Fabulous. There is so much to see in all of Huasteca Potosino, but this was great for a relaxing exploration of a fairly small area. Impossible it seems if you don't have your own car. We went on to Xilitla for two nights and that was wonderful as well.
