Set in the beautiful Dovedale Valley, The Izaak Walton is a 17th-century hotel with spectacular views across the Derbyshire countryside, known for its fishing streams, a log fireplace in the front hotel lounge and an additional log fireplace with traditional oak beamed ceilings in the Bar area.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Izaak Walton Hotel in the Peak District. The hotel is in a lovely gracious old building and the reception staff were welcoming. We were assisted to carry our bags up the stairs to our room which we appreciated. Our accommodation was wonderfully spacious with a generous ensuite, and there were good outdoor seating areas for guests. The views from our room of the peaks were most inspiring. Breakfast was excellent and staff again very helpful. An ideal location close to the Dovedale National Park. Thankyou.

Biggin Hall Hotel is a 3 star AA rated historic Grade II listed house of 17th Century origin with an AA awarded 1 rosette restaurant. It is set within 8 acres of grounds. The property is situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park, 1,000 feet above sea level, in peaceful open countryside.

We travelled to Derbyshire to visit chatworth house and booked at the hotel very last minute. We was very impressed with how we were welcomed on our arrival by very helpful and friendly staff. Our room was spacious and we were provided with a free bottle of beer and Prosecco which was a nice surprise. We also didn’t expect to receive a free packed lunch to take with us even though we only stayed for one night.

Picturesque, quiet and safe location, private on site parking, lots of lovely walks nearby. Accommodation was cosy for a family of 4 and 1 year old (cot and high chair available), downstairs living room and kitchen area is open and spacious, sofas recline. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need for cooking. Lots of games and books to read, plenty of maps and guides for things to do in the area. Nice little touches in the house, nightlights, torches, umbrellas. Having an honesty box and household essentials for sale.

Excellent, outstanding location, with beautiful gardens, peaceful and relaxing. Our room was uniquely and originally hand-painted, and together with the spacious and comfortable furnishings provided a great night's sleep. The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful, with good quality ingredients, served with a smile by friendly staff. We had supper the evening before which was exceedingly well presented, mouthwatering, and handy as we didn't wish to go out, and enjoyed the garden scenery and countryside views from the lawn.

The location is great for visitors wanting to go hiking or trail running from the door, in a quiet corner of the White Peak away from the crowds. Tea and cake on arrival were a lovely touch. Great breakfast too.

The room we had was enormous - which felt like old fashioned luxury. The house is situated in a great spot - quiet and dark at night and great to start walking first thing. The cake by the fireside was very welcoming and gave us a chance to meet our fellow guests and have a chat. We only stayed one night - but really enjoyed it - would happily have stayed for longer. Great spot!

Property in excellent order, period property in attractive setting, easy parking, residents' lounge, views of surrounding countryside, 2 ways out of the location by road, away from the busier areas around Ilam, bathroom with shower cubicle and bath, fridge near bedroom, ample supplies if tea & coffee ingredients, milk, bottled water, etc, very much made to feel welcome.

Naomi was the perfect hostess and made our stay so enjoyable. We loved relaxing by the open fire after being outdoors and listening to music in the beautifully decorated sittingroom. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The house was tastefully decorated throughout. Peaceful and quiet location with views of the gardens and countryside.
