We loved how close to nature it felt and how calm the restaurant was! Great food. Great environment. The people were so friendly and even let us shower and get ready for our flight long after we had checked out. The cat (Lilly) was so cute and we fell in love with her! Thank you guys for everything!

We have just stayed for 3 weeks in the excellent Bagamoyo spice villa in beautiful Zanzibar. It has a beautiful garden and clean airconditioned rooms. Thank you so much for looking after us! Mr Square gave excellent guest attention. Massive thank you to the restaurant staff Islam and Esta who provided everything with a smile and really made it a home from home. Breakfasts were plenty of fruit with toast, crepes, juice and fresh cooked eggs however we liked them including Spanish omelette. Dinner in the restaurant was plentiful with lots of choice. When we went on trips breakfast was provided early. The room had 2 double beds, aircon, fan, walk in shower, fridge and kettle. The beach was less than a minute walk from the gate.
We has excellent trips to Stonetown, the blue lagoon, Nacupenda sandbank and snorkelled at Mnemba and Tumbatu islands seeing dolphins jumping next to the boat. On the day trips we had a lobster, seafood, chips and fruit lunch. For trips I would highly recommend Nassor (+255 777 380 255) from the Union building on the nearest beach. He always made sure we were looked after and if we went in a taxi without him he would meet us at the hotel to show us the taxi and meet us again when we arrived back to make sure the trip was good.
If you like good coffee Victoria has a great coffee shop 1 min walk towards the square. And we would highly recommend the Blue Sea restaurant on the beach - great for sunsets and fabulous food!
We found Zanzibar very safe (violent crime is virtually unheard of even in Stonetown) and the people very friendly and passionate about their beautiful island. The Tanzanian and Masai traders/always had time to chat as well as sell souvenirs. They loved hearing about snow!
Please respect the locals tradition and support their trade - there are many bargains to be found with a bit of friendly negotiation. No one ever seems to get upset and the sayings Hakuna Matata and pole pole (slowly, slowly) aptly describe the vibe here.

The beach and the resorts are beautiful. People are amazing!
This situation with the Masai though its literally unbearable.
They don't know when to stop bothering you.
I am there to enjoy the sun and the beach not to be harassed by them, after I kindly explained that I don't wish to talk, have a good day, they literally follow me and don't leave me alone.
This ruined my whole experience!! Every second, every single day.

Nungwi used to be a small fishersmen's town, but it is now buzzing with bars, hotels and restaurants and lots of activities to do. If you want to go on a snorkeling trip, or have other fun activities. Then this is your spot. I appreciated the beautiful ful of the ocean - with the clear blue waters and the fishermen working.

Nungwi was a very pleasant and happy part of the island. The locals are very friendly and always willing to help and go the extra mile. The beaches are clean and the difference between high and low tide is very minimal. You can swim at all times of the day.

Nungwi is a good place for a traveler.
Nungwi is a good place for a traveler. The place has a lot of trees around it which makes it more beautiful for someone who loves nature. You get to breath fresh air. However, the roads are not well maintained which makes it worse when it rains, but I think it is part of the experience. As you get to see how good the boda boda guys are at riding their bikes.
Loved our stay at Babalao bungalows. Ahmed and team were so friendly and accommodating, they really put in a huge effort to ensure you have a good stay.
Would particularly recommend the deluxe rooms as these were noticeably better and had a lovely chill out area with swing seats.
Breakfast is different on each day of the week, more varied than anywhere else we've been in zanzibar.
Very comfy sunbeds by the pool.
Great location, just a few mins walk to the beach, and to plenty of places to eat and drink.
I’ve never been anywhere so beautiful, this place is unique in Zanzibar. I read reviews and was a bit worried but it just took my breath away with its beauty. The service was amazing, food delicious beach the whitest sand I’ve ever seen , sea the most turquoise, quite no hassle like other beaches just idyllic. Basilisa and Nasir are the perfect hosts, they were starting Sunday events while I was there, a moon rise dinner and then lazy Sunday afternoons with acoustic music… fantastic food, set menu… yummm
I was very sick when I came in the Hotel and the manager bring me a doctor. The following days , everyone was very kind and so helpful. Everyone was checking up on me and my wife , they even carried me when I couldn’t walk. The food was very nice, thanks to the cleaning staff the rooms were always clean.
The hotel is very close to the beach and the activities in Nungwi. This is the best hotel we stayed at in Zanzibar.
Thank you for everything, we recommend this hotel !
am a remote worker and have been in Zanzibar for more than 21 days. I travelled to the south and east coast of the island but Nungwi beach is the most beautiful beach. The sunset is the best here. The Zenobia team was the kindest and friendliest staff I have seen so far. The place is very hygienic and safe to eat and drink. The location is amazing, and the services are good quality. They have generators for electricity cutouts, and the internet was good enough.
Hotel is very nice. I like the way it is as guests can feel real Africa. It is not typical modern hotel but resort with houses in African style, super charming. Garden is looking very nice and staff take care about every detail. Beach is definitely one of the best in Zanzibar. Location is really good and it is easy to make a tour from this hotel to any part of the island. Staff is simply amazing, always ready to assist and help. The best staff ever.
Very nice comfortable hotel on Nungwi Beach.
Big territory with Tennis & Volleyball
Have Pool and cozy clean private beach, which possible to use even during low tides.
Room have very big space inside and terrace with garden/sea view. Soundproof well ✔️. A/C cooling awesome. And no Electricity problems.
We had breakfasts every morning. Variety of food more then enough with many choices.
Definitely would like come back
Location is very convenient for the beach, the rooms are basic, staff are very friendly and lovely ! But few issues made my stay not so enjoyable, first the WiFi only works in certain parts of the accommodation, needs to have a better ceiling fan or AC as it’s very hot in Zanzibar, loads of lizards and insects around the rooms, Papaya has some room to grow to shine be a 5* accommodation
OUR FAVOURITE HOTEL during our stay in Zanzibar - amazing vibed <3
literally a few steps away from the beach
garden area and room terrace were very relaxing
kind staff and owners (Baiba and Katja) that made us feel at home
big beautiful room nicely decorated and spacious bathroom, everything was clean
simple yet delicious breakfast with fruits, pancakes and French toast
The location is perfect! The property is located on one of the best beaches in Zanzibar. The reception and housekeeping staff are wonderful and friendly and very responsive to our needs and requests (can't say the same for restaurant staff - with some exceptions). The food is amazing and very delicious (although the menu is somewhat limited). Big ups to the chef/s.
Zuzana and Barack are great hosts. The house is new and built in a traditional way. Breakfast is freshly prepared by a chef and it had everything we needed. 2 min walk to the beach and several restaurants. The property is pretty close to a mosque (which is normal in Zanzibar) and you have earplugs in the room (quite useful). We would come again!
- The employees are just so friendly and attentive to every need (10/10)
- location - few minutes walk from the best beach in Nungwi and near to the other restaurants
- big spacious room, good bed (still to short for my boyfriend, but that is a problem with all the beds in Zanzibar not just Makofi)
- friendly cat
The location is perfect, right in front of the best beach in Zanzibar. Service was great, and the receptionist Shafii did everything he could to fulfill our requests and make our stay pleasant. Breakfast was good too, and the restaurant in front of the property is worth the visit. Sunset there is also very nice!
Excellent ambiance, the owners are awesome, helpful and friendly. The location is convenient, 10 steps to reach the beach. The hotel is very clean. The cook is so professional, prompt and the food she prepared exceeded all my expectations. Thanks a lot to the staff for making my stay in Zanzibar just perfect.
The beach is very beautiful and clean, one of the best one in the area.
The hotel is like a boutique hotel, small but with lovely landscape in its site.
They offer fresh coconuts to the clients in the beach area, which was a daily delight!
The food was nice.
i liked the location of the property and how its taken care of and secure. but overall experience wasn’t great especially after trying 3 different hotels in Zanzibar and I thought that doubletree would be the best since its Hilton but unfortunately it wasn’t
One of the cleanest hotels and rooms in nungwi, youssef the owner is the best person ive met in all zanzibar. He helped us a lot and he really makes sure to insure our confort. Victor two is an amazing person.
Really enjoyed my stay.
Outstanding hotel
Well managed
Food is excellent
One of bartenders, Adalina, might be the best bartender I have ever seen
