Comfortable hotel, good location, good breakfast, beautiful views, lots of outdoor spaces and nature. There seems to be a dock, but I wasn't clear about whether the hotel offered boat rides (even though I sat in the hotel booking office, it was never offered).

Puno is a great city.
Puno is a great city. I like the view on the lake and the Uros/Taquile Islands. I would go back in a heart beat.
The city itself is easy to access but due to higher elevation, I could only walk very short distances before being tired.

It is worth going to the lake in Puno since it is the highest navigable lake in the world and is also unique because of the islands made of reed. It was interesting seeing the lifestyles of the people living on these lakes. The food served as part of the tour was good, but getting to the restaurant was challenging since the climb up to the restaurant was quite steep. The overall experience was very good.

Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands.
Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands. The city itself is not very interesting, nice main square with a cathedral and few goods restaurants (Mojsa at the bottom of the Main square was really excellent, full of international travelers...). Did not have much time to climb on the nearby hills to have a panoramic view of the Puno & Titicaca. Spent two-day / one-night trip to Uros / Amantani / Taquile islands (overnight at Amantani with a local family), very interesting and very down-to-earth, but we all enjoyed the boat trip, Uros, dancing in local costumes & sunset from the top of Amantani (made it with our 8-year old daughter), as well as the next day at Taquile island. The following night we spent at Uros with Felix (Uros Amaru Marka Lodge) was excellent !

We wanted to come for the cultural experiences of the uro peoples but we saw a people who are abusing tourism to live. We were overcharged at every occurrence from transportation, housing, souvenirs, food etc. It left a bad taste in our mouths. We wish we would have spent time in other places in Peru.

Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small. They don't have the artensans or activities that other large towns like Cuzco may have, so if you don't care to visit the floating islands of Uros, you may not want to make the trip.

It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing. Markets galore and very well priced. Food was vaery nice in the restuarants.
Dont forget your ina toursit trap and it becomes more apparent as and if you go to the Uros islands. You will not be allowed tp leave until they have rinsed you of every penny they can get out of you -with minimal effort.
There is so much potential to do a lot more but I think the islanders have become lazy and just want to sell you trinkets which in all honesty are mass produced. The guide said they get most if not all oof their income from tourists. I can understand that, but at least make it entertaining rather than a tired old roadshow where they roll out the same thing time after time.
There is a nice promenade along the front with lots of wildlife.
Hope you enjoy.
Happy trails
My wife & I went to Peru for our honeymoon in July of 2021 and our stay with Valeria & Jose at the Lake Titicaca Marka Lodge was the highlight of our trip! The Marka Lodge is the most exquisite lodging available on Los Uros and Valeria & Jose are the most gracious & nicest hosts! We truly felt in the best of hands with Valeria & Jose. If you are going to the Puno/Lake Titicaca area, you MUST stay at the Lake Titicaca Marka Lodge. You will have the time of your life!!
the room was incredibly big and comfortable, with nice bathroom and very clean as well.
All the personnel was nice and welcoming. We had dinner in the hotel and despite being quite expensive for Peru (it's still an fancy hotel, so it made sense) each plate was really good and well made. Breakfast was also really good, with a big buffet. Overall suggested if you want to rest in a beautiful place!
Best night we had during our time in Peru. The view on the Titicaca at night and in the morning is unparalleled. Wilson and Lisbeth are a lovely couple who treated us like we were part of the family. Rich dinner and breakfast.
The morning after we had to be at the port of Puno at 6:30. W&L took us to shore and arranged our ground transportation to the port.
10/10 would definitely recommend
The hotel have perfect location. It's good value for the money. The room was clean and comfortable. All stuff were really nice and polite. But most of all, Kelly was amazing. She helped us so much with everything we asked for (and it wasn't just once or twice) ! She is an amazing and kind person. We will recommend this hotel to anyone, who want to spend his days in Puno in a pleasant hotel.
Staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was classic Peru hostel but with eggs!! Which was great. Wifi was very reliable and the room was quite spacious. The hostel is about 15 minute walk from the main plaza which suited us fine and we walked back from there even after midnight with no issues. Great value for money.
I got a twin room with a private bathroom with breakfast included (a simple ham or cheese sandwich with tea) for the price of a dormitory bed at most places in Peru. The owners are also very friendly and helpful, they have a tour agency with the hostel that offers the lowest price I could find for tours in Puno. Would recommend!
I was totally sarisfied with the hotel. Great location, 3 min from Plaza de Armas. Warm water, good internet (not in the evening but I experienced the same so far in Peru). I arrived spontaneously one day before my actual reservation and they stored my backpack until I was on a tour on the islands (for free).
Stunning place in Lake Titicaca with amazing hosts. The scenery is incredible, and Franco really made us so welcome. Everything is very well organised. Plenty of space just to rest and relax, and also go on excursions and learn about the Uros culture. The food was the best we’d eaten in a month in Peru.
if you want to spend a few nights in the nice hostel just don’t hesitate to book it with Inka’s rest, they are 24/7 at the desk, you can ask about everything and also they are eager to help with choosing tours. Water is hot which is not obvious in Peru and rooms(dorms) are comfortable for this price.
- Confortable bed and room
- Amazing view of the stars
- Nice staff, with lovely stories to tell. The hotel owner told me some unique stories from the aimara people.
- good breakfast for peruvian standards, with fruit salad, oatmeal, bread, tea, butter, jelly
- Cute labrador called Covidson
Hotel Balsa is a comfortable hotel close to the plaza. I gave the hotel a 10 because of the staff. Our tour operator failed to pick us up for a 2 day tour. Had it not been for the gracious young man at the front desk - we would have missed a tour of Cruz del Condor and the Colca canyon.
The staff - especially Maria - were really great and helpful to attend to every need, booking taxis and giving advice, etc. The room was very clean. The hotel helped to organise a great tour for us on Lake Titicaca for a good price.
This is an excellent hotel, so well located, modern and the room was beautiful. The staff was dedicated and behind details that make your stay unforgettable. If anybody travel to Puno this must be your option. Great property!!!
Located right next to the main plaza. Also, the balconies have excellent views of Puno and you can see part of the lake and sunrise. There is hot water and tea/coffee in the room - nice touch.
- Very friendly and attentive staff. They helped me with tour & bus ticket arrangement. The hotel is centrally located in Puno, spacious room, and good price for value.
- steady hot water.
Mama Leia and Papa Mario make you feel at home at all times. The food was delicious and we slept super comfortably.
A great place to relax from the hustle and bustle of Peruvian cities.
The view, the location, the staff, the rooms and the building overall were all amazing. Very very comfortable. Perfect temperature. One of my favorite hotels in my whole stay in Peru.
