Maud and Carlín are the best hosts. Their place is a little gem hidden away in the foothills of the Andes. You really should stay here for the night if you plan on visiting Kuelap. They welcome you into their hotel and family with open arms. My favourite hotel in the world!

Good location and close to the river, which makes it magic. The decorations close to the pool area are quite nice (insta-proved), specific for those who love to take selfies or pictures.

Communication with Janet was excellent before our arrival and she helped me with a couple of queries about the local sights. The young lady who runs the place was very welcoming and the room was absolutely beautiful in an old style with lots of space. The Wifi was average in the room but worked well on the terrace and the swimming pool was a bonus. The shower was superb!! Breakfast was good and all in all a great experience.

The staff helpful, though mostly speak Spanish, it is a budget accommodation good place to stay whilst you are busy all day sightseeing. It is a on picturesque square, if you are adverse to noise, request a room at the back.

Nuevo Tingo is a cute town that is in the middle of major renovations and upgrades to make it ready for a tourist boom. With the discovery of Keulap, and finally making it accessible, they are paving the roads, building lots of new hotels. It's a nice location if you like to hike, in addition to Keulap. While it's not a destination in itself, we really enjoyed Keulap and this is the best jumping-off point to get there.
It's a very walkable town, and there are tons of great hikes around there, including to Macro, where you ride in a rickety hand-pulled platform across the river for 2 soles.
