Stunning island setting with view to Isletas and towards Mount Mombacho on the other side of the island. It felt magical as we were the sole visitors. The room was well appointed and luxurious. A shame our hi-tech shower had no hot water, for this price I expect a high end bathroom experience, the water was cold the mini bar was empty and no tea/coffee making facility. The staff however were friendly.

We love Hotel Real La Merced. It is the only hotel we stay in when we visit Granada. The hotel itself is a beautifully renovated old colonial mansion, and is conveniently located just a couple of blocks away from the Central Park. It is visually stunning. I have never seen so many rude, contemptuous residents in most of the center city. They make Parisians look like a welcoming committee. They make a habit of fleecing tourists, both our hostel front desk and a food kiosk blatantly charged us more than they were supposed to and we witnessed atrocious behavior toward other tourists. Maybe 5% of the people we interacted with were friendly.
Service was comically bad in the restaurants we visited. They have plenty of tourists, but haven't learned much in the way of hospitality yet. Grocery stores are expensive with poor selections.
Arriving into Managua was not at all bad. And we are finding San Juan del Sur a joy, although this too is fairly pricey bc of all the American and Canadian tourists. Restaurant food was much higher quality and better value, service was great and everyone has been so very friendly.
So, really, all of our bad experiences were in Granada. I have no intention of returning and don't plan to recommend it to anyone. I hope to have a chance to see more of Managua before I leave.

Granada is a bustling city with nice people.
Granada is a bustling city with nice people. We like the fact that we were close to stores, markers, banks, parks etc..
What we did not like, is that there are no street signs, and since we were driving, we got lost a few times. Also, the beach was picturesque but unfortunately it was littered with garbage everywhere. It was very disappointing.

The churches and the restaurants.
The churches and the restaurants. There was a variety of restaurants and very reasonable prices. It was easy and inexpensive to get a cab home after dinner if we did not want to walk back to the hotel.
The friendliness and hospitality of the people was amazing.

It is an old city with a lot of old historic buildings. The infrastructure definitely needs upgrading. I have heard many good things about the beach area but I did not go to the beach. There are some sketchy areas at night time. So we did not leave on foot at night. if anyone had a reason to go to Granada I would definitely recommend the Hotel Jardin De Granada.

Its a great base to explore different venues for day trips and nice to walk around.
It was perfectly safe and outside of a few young children soliciting for $$$ it was a good experience.
Locals were absolutely helpful and the food was good. Excellent selection of dining venues.

Great town, unique colonial history and architecture.
Great town, unique colonial history and architecture. Granada is on the huge lake and many interesting volcanic islands that you can visit. A great city for biking, black market and "ramba" walking/dining area behind the beautiful Cathedral. Warning: city square park is beautiful but very crowded esp w aggressive and nasty taxi drivers. Many language schools and American backpackers. Realtively cheap restaurants.
We loved our stay at Casa del Agua -a beautiful old building in a great location with comfortable rooms set around a pretty courtyard with pool. The friendly owner, Gerry, was knowledgeable and helpful with advice & information to get the most out of our visit and also made the pancakes for the superb breakfast. The staff were lovely & there was a big fridge we could use, which was useful and entertainment watching the hotel cats. Altogether a hotel with a great vibe & a hit with all four of our party.
We booked 3 rooms for our family of 5 adults and stayed for 1 night only. The hotel owner was very kind. He stayed up for our late arrival, gave us lots of useful information about Granada and stored our luggage for a few hours after checkout. The pool looked inviting but we didn't have time to use it. We paid an extra $10/room to use the air conditioner. It cooled the room well and was well worth the money. This is a clean budget hotel in a great location, available for a fair price.
Gabby and Toby greeted us warmly to their beautiful hotel and we’re always available to answer questions, offer advice on things to do and see, and arrange transportation.
The hotel is located on a quiet street, but within blocks of most of the best restaurants in Granada, and the main plaza.
Breakfast was made to order, starting with tropical fruit , followed by four entre choices, and Nicaraguan coffee. The inner courtyard is filled with plants.
Amazing stay at the Secret Garden Hotel! It was the perfect home for me as a solo traveler in Granada. A 5-7min walk to the city center, it is such a great respite from the city. The room design and grounds are GORGEOUS! The staff is soooo sweet and accommodating, and breakfast was delish! Very communicative, awesome recommendations and they made arranging transport/activities so easy for me. Would absolutely recommend staying here.
The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast was good. The hotel was centrally located for walking to all the sights and restaurants of Granada. I would recommend a room on the ground floor as these have a terrace and are quieter than those facing onto the square. The pool area was pleasant for relaxing in after a days sightseeing. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I loved this hotel. We had an amazing time. The staff is super friendly and helps with trips, activities and even our bus back to Costa Rica. The hotel is really beautiful, a lot of spots to hang out and chill on a hot day. Pool is really nice. Location is close to the center. I would definitely recommend staying here while in Granada
This was the perfect location for our Granada vacation. It was walking distance to everything in-town, and had a beautiful pool and courtyard area for lounging at the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and the staff could not have been nicer. I would recommend Casa Bubu to anyone and would definitely stay there again!
It was a very enjoyable stay. A Very comfortable bed, great aircon & fan. Good room lighting. Very Clean. The interior of hotel/lobby dining area is lovely.Location was quiet & a short walk to central Granada. Hotel was dog friendly and the friendly staff were so kind/courteous to our family dog.
Super hotel in a strategic position in Granada.
Rooms very nice and clean (they clean all days!).plus with AC and hot water.
You have a very nice pool where refresh yourself after a walk or tour.
We had breakfast just once. It was good, but outside you can find better spots.
Recommended.
Our stay in Casa del agua was really nice, the hotel is so nice with the two pools in the little courtyard and the room is clean with comfortable beds and ac. The hosts are really nice and helpful, when you need something. Will stay there again if I ever get the chance to go back to granada
Perfect Location
Staff were really good, helpful and friendly
Room + aircon were great, in a nice building
Both breakfast options were delicious
Clean warm pool
It isn't a party hotel/hostel like some nearby slightly cheaper options, Hotel Colonial really suited us as a more tranquil base
Nice place to stay in Granada - nice room and private bathroom. The pool was very good for a cool off in the heat of Granada! Kitchen was clean and well equipped. Check in and out was smooth. The place was in a great location for exploring the city and felt pretty secure.
The hotel looks beautiful with two pools and colonial architecture. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast. Quiet, even though in the middle of town and with good views of the church tops around
Casa Delias is located a few minutes from Granada's cathedral. It's a colonial house with a nice garden and quiet rooms. It's convenient and you can use their patio and kitchen too. The owners are really friendly.
The location and the hotel events, hosting DJs and pool area. The bed was comfortable and the staff went above beyond after I forgot an item in the room, they found it and held it for me to pick it up later.
Clean, beautifully maintained, colonial hotel. The staff was super friendly and gracious. We traveled with 10 family members and everyone was totally impressed. Thanks hotel con corazón.
