The hotel was beautiful and sparkling clean, the breakfasts served from a menu felt very special, the roof terrace with stunning views over the harbour was such a bonus, and most of all the staff were incredibly welcoming and kind from start to finish. From arriving at 1am and being offered Prosecco on the terrace, to thoughtful touches to celebrate my birthday, they really made our stay. We’d definitely recommend the area too, it was peaceful but with enough walks, restaurants and cafes to make for good pottering, and the boat to Valetta was easy and quick for more sightseeing or a livelier night.

This host really knows what she's doing - the home is completely perfect with homey touches in the entry and candy and tee available for the guests. The room was clean and updated and there was a massive shared rooftop that we enjoyed for sunset! Spacious apartment with comfortable bed and plently of pillows.

Birgu No 25 apartment 3, hotel in Birgu

Great apartment in a perfect location in the heart of ancient Birgu. Within minutes were restaurants and bars along the water and in the town square and the water taxi to Valletta. The apartment is in a historic townhouse and renovated to a high standard. Very stylish decor. The bed and sofa were very comfortable and the kitchenette well designed and outfitted (no range) but a large refrigerator and freezer. Small but well designed bathroom, with a good shower (although slow draining). The roof terrace is a big plus and is for the sole use of this apartment. Andrew, the host, was extremely responsive, competent and kind. Highly recommend this place for a stay in Malta.

Azur Hotel by ST Hotels, hotel in Birgu

Located in Il-Gżira, a 15-minute walk from Rock Beach, Azur Hotel by ST Hotels provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, private parking, a fitness center and a shared lounge.

Very clean. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Free and secure self storage lockers, including very large bags, which was great since we had an afternoon flight and could keep them there while we went to the pool. Also a shower/bathroom directly by lockers so you can change before your flight. Also a VERY small gym down there. Ample breakfast which rotated dishes. Eggs of many varieties, meat, cheeses, vegetables, fruit, cereal, pastries, all the usual beams/potatoes/mushrooms most days (rotation). Plenty of options for vegetarians. Husband said the sausages were still slightly cold in the center one AM and we were there shortly after opening. The breakfast staff was wonderful and did a great job. Great connections and restaurants in the area. 10’ walk to the ferry to Valetta. Access to the pool/lido just across the street which is nice to lounge at (€30 for a day pas normally, free for guests). Also access to the sister properties pools (at least one rooftop).

One of the 3 Cities, Birgu is a beautiful ancient town with charming streets and architecture. There is a lovely waterfront with bars and restaurants. Lots of tour groups during the day but quiet and local at night. Very easy access to Valletta by cute water taxi or ferry, just a 10 minute ride.

Valetta was easily accessed from Birgu on the Ferry but we really fell in love with Birgu itself. Quieter than Valetta but far more authentic and less bustle. Our location meant we could get out and walk through Birgu and had lots of museums, cafes and restaurants, found a lovely Rock & Gem shop. The Marina was very pleasant and excellent food and drink in the Wild West Bar and Grill. The Square will be lovely after the construction work.

    Burgu is quaint and charming.

Burgu is quaint and charming. I liked it a lot better than Valetta and definitely better than Silema. I felt like I was in a real Maltese town with the locals. There's a small pastry shop in the square that sells paztizzi for 50 cents and they were amazing. There are several nice restaurants around the square and many small shops throughout the town that sell unique, handcrafted souvenirs. Overall, I loved Birgu.

    Loved this spot.

Loved this spot. Easy to get around and great locals so got a real sense of Malta. In the evening we ate around the square. Our favourite restaurants were D’Central and the Vittoriosa gastric pub. And do walk the inner streets of Birgu. Real gems.

Birgu/Vittoriosa is an amazing village, traditional and untainted by tourists. Lots of locally meet at the village square daily, where they hang out, chat, drink coffee and eat in the local pastizzeria. Its small streets are perfect to wander through and every single building is a piece of history.

Birgu is a very pretty old neighborhood and easy to get around. Great views of Valletta and convenient to take the ferry or a water taxi to Valletta. I would definitely stay here again, over Valletta.
