福寿苑 Fukujuen, hotel in Oshino

Set just 14 km from Lake Kawaguchi, 福寿苑 Fukujuen offers accommodation in Oshino with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as luggage storage space.

Lovely, big, traditional house which is close to the tourist sites around Mt Fuji. Even though there were only 4 of us, we had the whole house to ourselves, but didn't need to use upstairs as there are 2 bedrooms and 2 living rooms downstairs, as well as the large kitchen and bathrooms/toilets. The owner (Toru) was extremely kind & helpful and stayed over in the managers room the first night in case we had any problems. Although it was cooler outside when we stayed (early April), there were plenty of heaters in the house and some traditional Japanese Kotatsu heated tables to huddle around in the evening. I would recommend having a car if you stay here (there is parking on-site). Although the kitchen is large (has seating for at least 10), it might be difficult to cook at meal for a large group as there isn't an oven.

Fuji Lake Hotel, hotel in Oshino

Located right in front of Lake Kawaguchi in the Mount Fuji area, Fuji Lake Hotel offers spacious accommodations with mountain or lake views.

Within 12 minute walking distance from Kawaguchiko train/bus station. There is a hotel bus which you can call for a pick up from the station but also has a timetable. We didn’t do this however we did arrange for the bus to take us to the train station following check out. Lovely views from the hotel of both lake and Mount Fuji. Welcome drinks and snacks on arrival in the lobby. Private hot springs available at an additional charge with either a Mount Fuji or lake view. The breakfast and dinner buffet were exceptional. The hotel room was very spacious with slippers and nightwear provided. Although it was cloudy the day we arrived we woke up early the following morning to a beautiful view of Mount Fuji from our room and visited the Chureito Pagoda for an even clearer view of Mount Fuji.

Hotel Noborisaka, hotel in Oshino

Hotel Noborisaka is located within a 10-minute drive from Kawaguchiko Station and the Kawaguchiko Lake in the scenic Mount Fuji area.

The room was spacious, the view was nice and the bed was comfortable. The hotel provided slippers and bathrobes; the little luxury items that made a difference. We stayed a few days to look around Mt Fuji with a hired car, so I can’t comment on location in terms of public transport. There is a shopping mall nearby, it’s handy to buy a few things. There are also a few restaurants in walking distance. The coffee shop next to the carpark has great coffee.

Oshino mura is the authentic rural Japan, a small village in beautiful countryside with culture (Hakkei garden) and a relaxing spa (Sakana koen). There are good bus connections to the Fuji railway at Fujisan station and to lakes Yamanaka and Yamaguchi, although riding Japanese local buses requires some reading and understanding knowledge of Japanese. This is the perfect base for hikes up Mt. Fuji and through the area, and Fujiyoshida is a bustling little town with lots of businesses and restaurants. The best place to stay is Fujitomita inn.
