For a love hotel, the aesthetic is not too sketchy. it felt pretty equatorial. I like that I could have a drink brought up to my room 24/7. The staff is friendly (at least the one I met). The sound isolation is decent, I only heard cleaning noise in the near room in the morning, though I'm unsure if I had neighbors. The room is spacious and the ceiling high. It's a change from usual Japanese hotel rooms. I appreciate the wooden vibes. The AC is strong so the room cools down and warms up pretty fast. Amazing black out windows at night. No bad smell. a little Jacuzzi. I recommend if you have hard time dealing with tiny hotel rooms in Japan and don't mind taking taking back and forth.

As the major cities in Japan become larger and more...
As the major cities in Japan become larger and more identical to each other, they also become a little difficult for tourists to manage easily and feel at home in. But Nara has retained the feel it had when I was last there, half a century ago. Back then I said it was the favourite city, along with Kyoto, of any I visited in Japan. Right now I say it is STILL my favourite city, and in the 21st century it has left Kyoto well behind. If I were spending a week in the Kansai area, I would base myself in Nara in preference to Osaka or any of the "majors", and do day trips everywhere else. You will save on accommodation, for a start!

The Todaiji temple and the Kofuku-ji Buddhist temple next to it are a must-see. The museum was okay. The Isui-en Wisteria garden was okay too but it was too crowded because the flowers were in bloom. There are a number of restaurants and cafes on the street from the Nara Station to Nara Park.
Walking from Hotel Nikko/Nara Station to Nara Park and walking to all the attractions nearby was very tiring. So, I may recommend taking the bus on the way back, if possible. Also, it suddenly started raining in the afternoon and luckily, I had an umbrella with me.
I wished I had more time to see some of the other attractions outside of the Nara Park.

This was the most welcome I felt of our entire trip.
This was the most welcome I felt of our entire trip. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. If you could choose any hotel for your vacation this has to be the one because it will be your favorite. The food and staff were my favorites. The room was clean and comfy and they even had buckwheat pillows!

The best advice I can give is find where the biggest crowds are massed, all trying to impress deer with the same rice crackers that everyone else is trying to feed them, then pick a direction and walk away from them. There is so much more to the park: primeval forests, ancient stone pathways leading to temples and small villages older than most of our own countries, hidden pockets of lost time. It is hard to explain how it feels to not have another human being in sight, finding yourself passing stone idols carved by people hundreds of years ago, only to see a deer eating moss from the base of said idol that stops chewing to literally bow to you. Of course you bow back and scramble in your bag for some kind of treat to offer your new best friend (I recommend unsalted pretzel sticks, the deer hate plain rice crackers as much as we do at this point) and then having it gently eat from the palm of your hand, before you both again swap polite bows and go on your merry way. Then you hear a crow sing from the ancient forest behind you, and you just know: this is pretty cool.

Nice place, parks, plenty of temples, huge Buddha statues, a little ride by train and you can see the oldest still standing wooden building in the world!
And of course the deer! Feeding the deer with the deer cookies is fun and a little scary as they are quite bold and can pull and push you a bit.
Good food available as well.

If you are tired of seeing crowded with tourists cities,...
If you are tired of seeing crowded with tourists cities, come to Nara and start exploring the city. It’s a beautiful city that has so much more to offer with affordable prices. I fell in love with deers and all that Nara has to offer.
I have travelled all over the world and have stayed at a vast number of accommodations over the years, and I cannot recommend this hotel and the tourist information office inside more highly, as can be attested to by my numerous long-term stays there. Not only is the location ideal, the staff are extremely helpful and do everything they can to meet your needs and make your stay and time in Nara an amazing experience. To everyone at the Nara Visitor Center and Inn, thanks again for a wonderful stay!!!
The location was good, close to Naramachi. The staff were also very helpful, my friend had left her Apple Airpods in another hotel in a different city and we asked Miroku's staff to help make a call in Japanese and communicate that to the other hotel's staff. The Miroku team helped us with the process of arranging for the airpods to be delivered to us at Miroku, and ensured that we received the item when it arrived. Thank you so much!
I loved this hotel, yes it's dated no denying that but I had a huge room full size bath, the most incredible breakfasts. Staff were lovely especially the breakfast staff, so nice and helpful.
The location is terrific 5 mins walk from Nara Station and 10 mins or less from Kintetsu station. They kept my luggage for me after checking out, couldn't be more helpful, I was genuinely sorry to leave here. Incredible value for money
The hotel was approximately 15 minutes walk from Nara train station in a great location near shops and cafes. The laundry room was an added bonus with great service wash and dry of clothes. The hotel was also a short walk from both the Nara park with the famous deer, shrines and monuments plus the food market and restaurants. The hotel was clean and well maintained. There was a nice breakfast included in the price.
Location was superb, next to the train station/bus in Nara which made the hotel very busy. The breakfast buffet however, features wonderful spread of Japanese /western food and all of us enjoyed it very much. The public bahthouse on 6th floor was a good experience though a bit small. Staff were courteous. Great 24 hour pharmarcy and several convenient stores near the hotel.
The location could not be any better. The staff is super helpful, hot springs are what you need after a long day of exploring the city. Nara is my top fav city of Japan and this hotel made it even more memorable. Great facilities, super clean, a few minutes walking distance from train station with a supermarket right in front of the hotel.
The staff was incredibly kind and did a good job of offering activities such as a guide, and recommending sites to see. The hotel is incredibly well situated to see the main attractions of Nara. The onsen is clean and peaceful. The kaiseki dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast were beautifully prepared.
This hotel had an amazing location just a 3 mins walk from the JR Nara station. The hotel had a great atmosphere of a traditional Inn while providing standard hotel amenities at the same time. The hotel even offered a complementary Ramen supper every night which was a very nice way to end the day.
Nara is a very small town with limited western accommodations - this was a great choice. English was limited at the front desk so we had challenges communicating although they tried very hard to be helpful. Location was ideal in the center of town walking distance from restaurants and bus stop.
I booked a family room. The hotel is in a very good location, close to nara park and nara shopping street, the implementation provided is good and overall just very clean and comfortable. Car park is right next door with reasonable price. Highly recommend this hotel base Nara.
The location was perfect; a 20 min walk to Nara Park and all the attractions, and a 5 minute walk to the train station. The staff were possibly the most friendly and helpful I’ve ever experienced. Would recommend this hotel to anyone considering an overnight stay in Nara.
It’s the feeling of staying in a 100 year old home and experience the Japanese style hotel. The location is very good and easy to locate from the station and near Nara park, it’s all walking distance. I’ve had the best experience in Nara in my stay. Thank you!
Great Japanese style hotel with western bed options. Onsen was fabulous, great location, free ramen in the evening and ice cream after the onsen was delicious! Excellent value for money. Would recommend to anyone going to Nara for a relaxing stay.
The hotel is in the hills above Nara. The views from the room and the restaurant were really nice. The hotel is elegant, the rooms spacious and very nice. What was outstanding was the dinner. Our best dinner in Japan
A lovely modern hotel which has all of the normal amenities and is decorated with a cosy design based on Nara. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from Nara station (not Kintetsu-Nara). There's an onsen available
The location was good, close to train station and convenience store. We stayed for a night so we don’t have any complaints. There are many parking lots close to the hotel. Its close to Nara park as well.
The location, the breakfast, and the room. The staffs are very nice, helping booking the dinner and taxi, etc. Our family enjoyed the stay in the hotel.
