Guest House Yanagiya, hotel in Ena

Boasting a garden, Guest House Yanagiya is located in Ena in the Gifu region, 14 km from Ōi and 20 km from Enakyo Wonderland. It is set 12 km from Japan Taisho Village and offers a shared kitchen.

The host was really helpful (even though we don't share a language) - she helped us out a lot and recommended a great local izakaya. Rooms were a decent size. The facilities are shared, but they were of a good standard. The location in Iwamura was great - it is a picturesque rural Japanese town, with a nice walk up to the castle ruins. We were only a short drive away from Magome and Tsumago

Ena Hotel Venus, hotel in Ena

Set in Ena, 4.8 km from Enakyo Wonderland, Ena Hotel Venus offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

Super smooth easy check in. Being a love hotel meant that getting to the room was 10 seconds from the car park, and the place was absolutely spotless. Lots of complimentary amenities, and surprisingly no smoke odours (as all rooms are smoking, it was a worry)

Guest House Tomida, hotel in Ena

Wonderfully cheerful host. No English spoken but expert on Google translate! Very comfortable. We had the whole place to ourselves but there's ample space in the living room/kitchen if the other 2 rooms are occupied. Excellent value.

Enakyo Onsen Hotel Yuzuriha, hotel in Ena

Set 4.8 km from Enakyo Wonderland, Enakyo Onsen Hotel Yuzuriha offers accommodation with a balcony, as well as an open-air bath.

The staff from front desk, reception and restaurant were all very polite and helpful. Was surprised to be offered a birthday present, it was truly a sweet surprise. The front desk and reception staff were very accommodative to my requests. We believed the hotel specially assigned a waitress who could speak English to attend to us at the restaurant. Dinner was superb. We were also pleasantly surprised by the interesting food for breakfast which gave us the opportunity to learn a little about the Hida culture. My husband and I are very happy with the service offered and the cleanliness of the hotel.

We stayed for one night after hiking part of the Old Nakasendo trail. We received a very warm greeting and got a strong positive vibe from the staff members throughout our stay. They really seemed to enjoy their job and passed some of that enthusiasm to their guests. In the evening we got free curry rice curry and snacks. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, both Western and Japanese style. The public bath was beautiful and had a very relaxing atmosphere. The room was quite spacious. The hotel is also conveniently located, ideal for getting on the bus towards the start of the trail and getting to Magome and Tsumago. We can 100% recommend staying at this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

specifically i took the akechi railway from ena station to libama station and stayed for a few nights. it was a lovely countryside and i had a good rest and walk around. the old iwamura castle town was nearby. personally i preferred this old castle town. its a charming quiet place, a lovely place to enjoy history and culture, the free museums that showed you the life of the past, and the hospitality of the people. iwamura castle town is within walking distance from the akechi railway iwamura station. the akechi railway ride itself was also lovely. it brought you down memory lane and beautiful views of the countryside.
